Time to Level Up, Pt. 2

Y'all were really helpful as far as giving me ideas on how to spend heart thumping amounts of money for a new hunting type rifle. That should be done in a couple years.

So now to the more tactical side. Of the following which gets your blood pumping. Once you've all had your chance I'll tell you which direction I'm leaning. I'm not 100% fixed on a particular one but pretty near. I don't want to influence anyone's vote with mine which is why I'm waiting for the reveal. That and I want to wait so you can all chew me out later in the thread.

Desert Tech SRS with barrel/bolt/mag kits to support 300NM, 338NM, 308Win and 6SLR
Drake Associates Stalker ASR-3 with barrel/bolt/mag kits to support 300NM, 338NM, 308Win and 6SLR
Accuracy International ASR kit w/ barrel/bolt/mag kits to support 300NM, 338NM, 308Win and 6SLR
Cadex Defense Kraken with barrel/bolt/mag kits to support 300NM, 338NM, 308Win and 6SLR

Those are all BA! I would take the desert tech SRS out of the running bc dont you have to lift your head off the rifle to manipulate the bolt?

If it were me I would go with the AI ASR, BUT bc thats the only one I have direct experience with. They all seem like pretty cool rifles.

It's totally possible to use the SRS without lifting your head. Most people just fail at that because it's really not a comfortable thing to do. The motion isn't natural even a comfortable thing to do at all with a standard length human arm. It's really kind of awkward. As well, if you have chubby cheeks I could see it being easy to pinch the heck out of your face right before punching yourself in the face. I tend to instinctively use a bladed hand where I pinch the bolt knob between my thumb and forefinger in the web of my thump instead of outright grasping it when cycling my conventional bolt action guns and the few times I've shot an SRS I didn't punch myself in the face but I did have to lift my elbie bone off the ground when prone and chicken wing a bit on obstacles. Nonetheless, valid point and well taken.

Well... right now I'm still undecided but the proprietary magazines of limited capacity in the DT SRS is counting kinda heavily against it. Not a fatal problem but I really would prefer something approaching a standard AICS mag.

AI ASR would most assuredly be my choice. I have owned (still do) many AI rifles and never been disappointed. The versatility and repeatability of the ASR, if matches the AXMC, should make it top choice.

Ended up going with the Desert Tech. I found Short Action Customs was willing to do my barrels and that way I'm not pinned into 300 Norma and 338 Norma and the somewhat archaic .308win but instead I can get stuff that I want right out of the gate and think about the 2 Norma's and the .308win later on.

Will be going 6xc, 338wm, 338 Lapua, 300WSM out of the gate. Then I'll pick up a .223 coversion and a 308win conversion and then think about the normas. Now to optics.
