Tikka varmint vs Remington 40xb ks

Likely either will shoot well but in my experience the odds favor the Tikka being better without you having to do a lot of fiddling around with it. I have never had a bad shooting Tikka or one that I had to do anything to in order to make it a good shooter. I can't say the same about Remington, they usually require a trigger replacement and a bedding job at a minimum.

Obvious no one ows a 40xb ks longmaster lol
Well, I was kind of wondering when I read all the responses. I admit, I have owned a ton of Remingtons (most have now been sold) and a 40X and a 40XBR. But I have never owned a Tikka. And I was wondering if I needed to buy one to find out what I don't know.

But my path has followed in the path I recall another member once stated. He said he sold all his factory rifles and now only shoots customs. Took me a few years to begin in that direction. But when I look at the features most custom actions offer, the pleasure of shooting a single point cut barrel, and the benefits it provides (lack of copper and accuracy). With components as expensive as they have gotten, I just prefer the improved consistent accuracy that the customs offer. And if folks are thinking, well that's fine if you have the $$, generally I have spent less on the customs than probably either of the rifles being discussed. I buy lightly used that match my interests that are economically within my budget.

TikkaTikkaTikka!
I liked Remingtons for years. One day, a guy handed me a Tikka Master Sporter to shoot. I was sold. Find one and work the bolt. T3, T3x, CTR, 595, 695, it doesn’t matter. They’re all smooth as silk. I own six or seven Tikkas in various calibers. They all shoot well. Side bolt release, great trigger......what more do you want to know?

I'm a Tikka M55 and M65 guy personally, like the oldies I suppose. I've since added a very early M55 .22-250, heavy barrel with a wide flat stock (not shown in pic). Just took it to the range today for the first time, got a few through it then got distracted with my M695 .25-06 that was acting up.
Also not shown is a 695 7RM, 695 .25-06, 595 .243 compact.

Here's my 55s and 65s, all Deluxe models.

Very nice collection!

Holy crap! I just googled the Remington! You could buy a Tikka and three custom chambered Bartliens for the same money!!!

I have 4 40xb ks long masters. 22 creed, 243 12 twist, 243 8 twist, 300 win mag. I have yet see a Tikka at a f class match or a bench shoot. I do own a Sako 85 varmint in 204 and it shoots pretty darn good but not as good as the 40x

The misdirection in your response is that the OP is looking for a rifle to shoot varmints, or accuracy/fun, he was not asking about a rifle for F-class or Benchrest. As posted above the Rem KS is a $3000 rifle and the Tikka Varminter can be had for less than $1000.

I have owned numerous Tikka's and a great many Remington 700's from sporters to 40X and every Remington has taken trigger work or replacemet, and bedding to get them near 5 shot 1/2" groups Every Tikka I have owned has had nothing done to it except to adjusting the weight of pull and start shooting 5 shot 1/2" groups.

My reply to purchase a Tikka is based on actual having owned and shot numerous examples of both Remington 700's and Tikkas. If he wants a rifle that may or may not meet his expectations then he should consider the Remington, if he wants a rifle that all he has to do is mount a scope and go shoot then he should consider the Tikka.

But Josh, It’s a 6.5 CREEDMOOR…
I completely missed that!
I’ve been thinking about my past purchases and how I’ve spent my money.
About 5 years ago, I bought a rifle. Terry Leonard stock, Borden action, Jewell trigger, one lightly used barrel and one new barrel, 6ppc. It came with rings, dies, some brass and a Leupold 45x Competition scope. Think I paid $3200 for it.
About three years ago, I bought a Borden barreled action, unfired 6 Dasher for $1500. I made a stock for it. Probably could have bought a stock for $500, so say it’s worth $2200 without a scope
Same year I bought a lightly used Tikka CTR 6.5 Creedmoor. Think I paid $800 for it.
Same time frame, I had Bob Green chamber a 6 br barrel for a Tikka 595 I picked up for $600, so $1200 for the gun
I guess what I’m saying is if you watch for the right deals, you can find some great guns for a lot less than $3000.
