Tikka T3X in 6.5 Creedmoor

A friend of mine bought a new Tikka in 6.5 Creedmoor and ask me to put the scope on it for him since he knows that I have done that many times. 1) First of all, the filler screws don't want to come out of the action receiver. I ordered a Talley Picatinny rail and the screws that came with the Talley rail are too large for the holes in the receiver !!!
2) I ordered him a box of Berger 135 Classic Hunter loaded ammo. When I close the bolt on the cartridge, it takes a great deal of effort. When I examined the extracted cartridge, I see that the bullet is jammed quite a bit in the lands. Frustrating...
Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions would really be appreciated....

Tikka 243's I've loaded have all had a shorter throat for factory rifles

The hybrid nose shape on 130 OTM Berger ammo will most likely fit the short throat over the classic hunter style.

Filler screws are a very soft material.
Sometimes they come out easily and worst case is they get pushed through. Just don't let it get hung in the trigger group.

The 6.5 Creedmoor should have about, .199 -.200 Freebore and should NOT "upset" ANY Factory Load, Bullet !
You "May" Have, a "Short Chambered" or, Un-Finished Chambered, Rifle,.
Do NOT Fire, the Rifle, Until, a Competent, Gunsmith can, Check it, Out.
I have this, SAME Rifle and can shoot, 130 gr. H-VLD, Berger's or 143 gr ELD-X seated Out to,. 2.845" COAL.
I've NEVER Seen Factory Ammo,. "Jammed" into, the Lands,.. USE,. Caution !!!

Agreed. Have it checked out with gauges. Factory ammo should fit all rifles….
Problem with the screws is that Tikka glues everything. As mentioned, use heat to get them loose.

I've got a Tikka Veil in 6.5 CM. I've shot everything from factory 95 gr V-max to 140 gr, both factory and reloads, with no issues. It really likes the Hornady 140 gr BTHP. For an off the shelf factory gun, the accuracy is amazing.

Factory ammo my Tikka 6.5CM likes Norma 143gr Target or Bondstrike. Same grouping and POI within 1/2moa of each other. Like others said get it checked out as something is off with either the chamber or ammo. Mine has plenty of room between factory and touch, let alone jam as you seem to have found.

Thanks guys. I have since learned that the screws are plastic. The threads strip very easily. I have two out and working on the other two. Thanks again for all your help and suggestions.
Neither of my 2 Tikka t3x rifle had plastic plug screws. That's just odd that your friends did.

I have the 6.5 CM UPR model. No issues with throat length - I'm loading 142 SMK in Nosler brass. It came with a Picatinny, 0 MoA installed. I suggest measuring the chamber length and comparing it to the SAAMI print on their website.
