Tikka T3 204 Ruger Question

If it’s a saami spec chamber you may not have very much bullet in the neck if it can be seated to touch. Think saami is .100 freebore
I have a Hunter model shooting 32 VMAX and a Varmint model shooting 39 SBK. The magazine is not really the true limiting factor, both bullets will fall our of the brass before touching. Just seated min to mag length and both are shooting around .3 moa. Best of luck...

No factory 204R rifle will allow seating to the lands because of the SAAMI freebore in this caliber, usually right at or just more than .100" as has been mentioned. I have four of them, only my custom fast twist Pac-Nor M700 is capable of seating to the lands.
Don't fret the freebore, as most of these factory chambered rifles do just fine with what most of us would call excessive jump.

In the CZ 527 Varmint model 204 with a 32gr Vmax touching the lands was an OAL of 2.408 which only left .074 of the bullet in the neck so basically the bullet was about to fall out.
Hornady Superformance 32gr Vmax ammo measures right around 2.249 base to tip.
I have a Tikka Compact in 204 that I picked up not to long ago but haven't measured the OAL to touch with it yet.
The Tikka magazine in my 204 isn't very long and unless the freebore in these Tikka's is very short, which is highly doubtful, there is no way I'll be able to get anywhere close to the lands.
If it shoots well with the factory FB I'll just roll with it the way it is but if it doesn't I'll either have the factory barrel set back and rechambered with a zero or short FB reamer or maybe opt for a new barrel and start fresh but if I go that route I may swap it over to a 20 Practical or another 20-222. Kevin Weaver has his 20 Bobcat aka 20-222AI which is a cool looking little cartridge but I really don't want yet another rifle I have to fireform for.
