Tikka T1x Not Recocking

This gun has only had 3-400 rounds through it.
I realize the short lift is a meant to be a little hard but today
it was failing on every 3rd shot. Just lifting and dropping
the bolt does not re-cock it. I have to eject the round
and start over.

Suggestions?

Thanks

If the trigger is turned way down with the factory spring it may not re-cock with enough sear engagement. First thing I would do is turn up the trigger poundage, as a test. Good luck and keep us updated.

^^^^^^^^^^ what Paul said. My Tikka T1X and Bergara BMR are very similarly designed. My Bergara BMR did this twice to me on Monday while I was shooting it.2 times out of over 100 shots. I had noticed that the trigger weight screw had loosened but kept shooting it to see what happened, and this is what happened. I had it adjusted on the edge of lightness.

Does the rifle still have the factory trigger installed? It might be time to reset the trigger back to the factory settings and recheck operation.

While I don't dislike the factory trigger, I did have similar issues with one - and replaced it with a Barnard trigger - yes- they used to make a replacement. I managed to find one pre-loved. My other, on a 223, I replaced the spring with one from YoDave in Canada. Not a massive difference, but allowed a slightly lighter pull that was still reliable and consistent. I'm not suggesting that you replace springs to solve your problem - but I may be a way of running a lighter pull reliably once the issue is resolved as it could be that the current, factory spring has insufficient tension.
