Tikka rifles?? Thoughts, opinions and experience.

I'm looking at a Tikka T3 stainless camo or a Tikka stainless T3 light in either 243 or 308 for my deer rifle this fall. I would love to hear your thoughts.

Good trigger, smooth action, accurate. You could make many choices that would be worse. There are picatinny rails available if that is what you want. I own one in 7RM.

Like Phil said above, very nice rifle out of the box but if you plan on any customization, aftermarket parts and accessories are scarce.

Tazzman, do the rails slide into the dovetail and then bolt on or do the sit on top of the receiver like most do?

the pic rails attach with screws to the top of the action, its a flat to flat fit. I have had numerous tikka's and they've all been great. I find myself trading or selling to get different models more than anything. Go to cabela's and handle the T3 superlite. I think you'll like it.

All of my rifles now are on the heavy side accept for sporter Anshutz 17hmr. Was a little nervous about such a light rifle. I was almost leaning towards the varmint but think it might be too heavy.

I and my son have owned 3 Tikkas. They in my opinion have the smoothest out of the box factory action on the market. Very well made and shoot great......highly recommend.

I think Tikkas are great rifles. I own a T3 in 223 and it shoots. I like the older 595s more and own 4 of them. 2 22-250s, a 223 and a 308. I think there is a 595 .243 on Gunbroker for a good price. Might still be there.

Well I just bit the bullet and ordered a T3x Laminate in 308. I hope it shoots and I hope the stock was worth a 150 bucks over the synthetic.

Good for you! I bet it shoots and I bet you're happy with it. I should have remembered to mention that Potatoe has a custom barreled Tikka action in a laminate stock for sale in 308. Bob Green did the work. Oh well!

I have owned 3 or 4 Tikkas and for me they were the most accurate out of the box factory rifles for me. Triggers were good for hunting rifles.

I have bunch of Tikka's including a T3 stainless/laminated stock in 243. I bought for the grand kids to hunt with but they complained that it was too heavy and always wanted to take one of the T3 Lites. The laminated is a decent rifle - around one MOA usually with factory Winchester ammo. The action is slick as snot and the detachable mag is a plus. I never liked the plastic trigger guard and bolt shroud although they've held up well. Extra mags are reasonable at around $30. The price of a T3 may go down some since the T3x model came out but probably won't be the bargain it was a few years ago. It's unfortunate we can't get all the models, calibers and options in the US that are available elsewhere. I'd really like to have a T3 Varmint with set trigger in .222 but only ever saw one for sale. It was left handed and I'm not.

Nice, practical factory rifles. Good trigger. Slick action. Decent barrel.

I bought a T3 Lite in 243. Mounted a new Redfield 4-12x in the factory rings. Took it to the range with some 20 year old Winchester factory ammo to break in the barrel and rough sight in.

Target was a prairie dog outline with a 1" X ring.

Very first shot was just outside the X. I gave it a couple of clicks left and three up...then proceeded to drive the next 19 right I to that circle. Each and every one. With cleaning the barrel every few rounds in there.

I liked it enough that it served as the basis for my latest little project. Mr Ezell "gunsandgunsmithing" did it for me.

I have a 243 Tikka Stainless lite. Excellent trigger, smooth action, accurate sub moa with tailored reloads. No issues with the rifle. I like mine a lot.

The mounts that came with mine would worked loose after a few firings. I tried tightening and locke tite but nothing worked. Solved the problem with Tally Mounts.

Drover, if you ever decide to sell that 223 I want dibbs on it!! And GSPV that's a beautiful rifle! Now I'm starting to get excited. You guys are making me want to order a 243 calling rifle and a 223 walking varminter. :)

I have already put it on the "not for sale" side of the safe. I am surprised at how well it shoots for a light-weight sporter. Of course the good triggers on them help a lot.

Hope yours shoots as well.
