I'm putting new barrels on a Tikka 595 and 695. The last time I sent a 595 for a new barrel, my smith told me they were tuff and needed a relief cut to remove them. The factory barrel shot pretty well so I paid for him to set it back after he got it off. I now have these two that I want new barrels on. Being a cheap renegade risk taker, I figured I'd try removing them myself. I ordered up a Wheeler action wrench. I got set up in my shop this morning and prepared myself for the worst. 2 barrel vises and a 5 foot cheater pipe. I put the wrench on the vised up barreled action and leaned on it without the cheater. It came off! Surprised, I did the 595. Same result! No heat. No damage. No drama. All I can say is "Thank you, Mr Wheeler!" You just saved me $340.00
