Tight Bolt On CZ 527 In 223

I picked up a CZ 527 in 223 last summer and shot it 6-8 times last fall possibly 350-400 rounds total. I recently noticed that the bolt is getting very tight, difficult to bull back even with the chamber empty. I've never experienced a problem or issue like this with a bolt action.

Any suggestions?

My daughter has a CZ 223 also and the bolt is binding on it too. They don't not have a claw extractor they have a copy of a sako or m16 extractor and to make it safe it has a filler that keeps the extractor form coming down the raceway should it be over pressured. This filler looks like a claw extractor but doesn't have a hook on the end. I talked to a gunsmith the other day and he said he fixes them by sanding the filler down with 400 paper. My daughters gun had a definite rub mark on this filler where it is binding on the receiver. I have done some sanding but haven't cured it yet. Let me know if yours has a rub mark on this piece and if cleaning has fixed yours. Mark

Onelastshot Does your gun have a removable box magazine or is does it have floor plate that opens with button in trigger bow? The guys on the CZ forum say that magazines are the problem with the new guns with detachable magazines.

Ebb... I've owned several CZ 527 rifles, and they all had non rotating, Mauser style, claw extractors. I wonder what it is that you have there?

OP, they will get dry fairly easy. I like that grease that has copper in it, it works really well, and a little bit goes a long ways.

Stubbicatt, I decided to get the gun in question out and see what it is. It has a CZ butt plate in plastic with a white line spacer. The receiver has on its left side MARKX on the receiver ring , further back on the receiver where the clip slot would be on a military gun there is a circular symbol like flower with a cross inside and Alexandria Virginia, then Interarms, then Manchester England, then the CZ symbol. There are a whole lot of numbers, proof marks, and letters on the right side of the receiver and barrel. The barrel on the left side has cal. 223 rem in script. The bolt is very small so it is a mini Mauser action. My daughter when she was 8 decided she needed a rifle we were getting started on an addition to a house, and the screen room had to come down first. She went to work with me that Saturday and helped tear down the screen room and sell it for scrap. We split the rest of the cost between us. The only gun we found in town that she liked was in a gun shop used. That was 17 years ago and I have no idea how old it was then. It has the extractor I mentioned before. I would guess its a mark 10 but I thought they were all marked Santa Barbara, Calf. Maybe only the full sized ones ??? Mark

Check to see if the stock bedding is warping the action. Loosen the stock bolts, and run the bolt. If this frees up the binding, then you have to do an epoxy bedding under the action(or relieve the barrel channel, if the high spot is under the barrel).
