Throat wear- any difference with distance to jump?

With a .308- or most any rifle-if everything else was equal on the reloads-except distance to jump to the lands, would there be any difference in throat wear if bullet ogive was .001" away or .020"away after shooting 1000 rnds or so? I realize adjusting for max accuracy needs to dictate this-just wondering

I'm new to reloading .
My Speer manual says somewhere around 30 rounds we begin to loose .001" .
The hotter the loads , the more we loose. I wouldn't think distance matters much , but closer to the lands will give more pressure.

If you are shooting a .308 I wouldn't worry much about throat changes in 1,000 rounds. The .308 is real easy on barrels compared to other calibers. One of my .308's went well into the thousands of rounds before accuracy fell off. I replaced he barrel after 10,000 rounds and it still shot sub .5 MOA with handloads.

I shot mostly magazine length hand loads so the jump was more like .150" and throat wear didn't seem to be an issue.
