Throat erosion FTR rifles

Not sure if anyone has the same thing going on as me . I have 1,000 rounds through my FTR rifle shooting 44 grains of N140 with a 200.20x approximately 2610 FPS . To seat my bullets 8 thou off the lands my oal has only changed one thou from when I first started shooting it

It's a 308, that's not surprising. Mine don't seem to move much either. When you get to about 3000 rounds on it it may start moving faster, but till then you're doing fine.

Me too.. I don't see much movement in AOL in many of my barrels throughout their lifespan. I don't treat the barrels good. Rarely clean them and let them get scorching hot all the time except in the deep freeze of winter when barrel heat is no problem.

In my experience, it seems like accuracy drops off from F Class levels before you see a ton of movement in a .308. It's one of the nice things about a big bore. Millage may vary (significantly).

I've had a couple barrels that appeared to move an appreciable amount (5-8 thou) during the first ~400-500 rds, whether due to the lands getting smoothed down and/or a burr getting worn off, I don't know. The first time, it scared the crap out of me and I started cleaning the barrel down to bare metal and checking the throat after every single day. It moved *maybe* 1 thou over the next 1800+ rds.
