Throat Erosion 6BRX

If you have a bore scope can you judge the erosion by a picture or by just shooting and testing for groups no matter how bad the erosion looks.

Bore scope will definitely let you see (not measure) the results of shooting and how your barrel/throat is wearing. For measuring throat erosion I use the method Alex Wheeler describes in the link below. Ultimately, your target will let you know when you need to adjust your tune/load or when the barrel has lost its ability to shoot small consistently.

Good shooting

You are keeping it clean and the throat shows effects of firing (not being sarcastic). Have you measured the amount of erosion that has occurred? Is it shooting as good as when it only had 100-200 rds through it?

Rich

Have you measured how much the lands have receaded? And how many shots down the tube?

I have only put 50 rounds down the tube. I bought the rifle used.
The rifle seams to be grouping pretty good. I was just trying to get a mental scale to go by when looking at erosion with a bore scope.

When you do get around to replacing the barrel you will be able to watch the erosion of the throat/barrel throughout the life of the barrel and write data in your notes for reference. Just remember erosion might be different based on powder type used.

I keep a pretty good watch on mine
The pic you posted looks like it has quite a few shots fired through it. But does look clean and not carbon or copper build up. the fire cracking is just starting to show. You'll have to keep on the good cleaning method you appear to have

Thanks everyone.
I'm keeping notes and the guy before me used RL15. I have been getting better groups with H4350 than I was with RL15.

kroil's oil and JB. I been using some cloth patches on a jag I picked up from Sportsman Warehouse. The patches looks like a cut up t-shirt but the weave is more aggressive.

i check my seating depth every 100 rounds and adjust load as needed , i use the way alex wheeler way in the vid up top, it moved heaps when i was running in barrel but it slowed right down after 100-200 rounds and only moved .001 in the last 100 rounds (400 on barrel now)
