Three Forks, MT LRC-Montana Match Schedule

All,

LRC Montana is beginning its third year of Field-Precision Rifle Shooting matches. This year will feature Montana’s first ever Precision Rifle Series match on August 18th and 19th. The first scheduled match is February 3rd, 2018; conditions permitting. This match will determine the 2017 club points leaders for Hunter Class, Experienced, Senior and Novice classes but is open to anyone interested in shooting. If you aren’t into the PRS style of shooting, the Hunter class offers primarily prone shooting positions with more forgiving time constraints. Round count for the Hunter class is typically 50-70 and with 80-100 being common for all other classes. There is no reason a benchrest, or any other discipline of shooter could show up an not place very well. We all share a common interest (in my opinion) of shooting small at long distances.

Competitors that have shot the Hunter class have remarked about how much more comfortable and effective they are in the field when engaging game. An LRC Match is first and foremost a SAFE environment to shoot in. Egos are checked at the gate and even the most experienced shooter will take time to guide a struggling novice. If you are unsure if these matches are for you, Range Officers are always needed and will allow for an overview of a match before committing to one.

Rifle restrictions are:

Hunter class is limited to an 11.5# rifle (bipod/scope/etc.). A DBM can be used, but is limited to five rounds and there can be no mag changes under time.

Cartridge restrictions are 30 cal and under with max velocity of 3150 FPS at the muzzle.

LRC is located near Three Forks, MT. The field course is usually setup in 7-9 stages with targets from 100 – 1100 yards with some unknown distance, reticle ranging stages making their way into the matches. There is a moving target system built by Precision Shooting Solutions in Cody, WY as well as Know-Your-Limits racks, spinners, etc.

The current 2018 match schedule is as follows (subject to change):

-Club Level LRC #1 3/24/18

-Club Level LRC #2 6/23/18

-LRC Team Dual 7/21-7/22 Rifleman Team Challenge Event

-LRC’s Defy the Distance PRS Match, presented by Defiance Machine. August 18th and 19th (registration opens April 1st)

-Club Level LRC #5 9/22/18

-Club Level LRC Finale #6 12/1/18 (Only if Montana Series does not come to fruition for 2018)

Are there still slots available for Defy the Distance match, and how do you sign up? According to Facebook the dates are Sept 8 and 9.

Are the positional stages realistic field positions, or are they wobbly barricades or props that in real life you would never take a shot off?
