Threading an Annie?

I have a 1903 msr that I’d like to get the muzzle threaded on to run a can but I’m worried about degradation of accuracy. I’ve been reading that Annie threaded barrels are choked at a specific point?? I’d like to thread it but not at the cost of loosing accuracy. Any input is appreciated. Thanks guys

If whomever does your threading back bore's the crown behind the threading, you should not have a lot to worry about in the aspect of making accuracy worse than what it is currently.... Just my opinion... take it with a grain of salt.

Button barrels....it’s residual stress in the barrel blank. When ever you cut and crown, thread, flute etc...you have no way of knowing where the bore can go sour on you.

Plinker4life has a nice thought....if you can do it properly thread it...then back bore the crown to get away from the threads.

I rolled the dice on my 2013, worked out fine. I agree though button rifles barrels take a chance in hitting a stubborn spot on threading and all bets off. Nice part barrels are made every day. Good luck.

I will look into that. Thank you

i’d tend to doubt you get a good result with this given the lack of diameter, resulting limit on how much you can back bore and difficulty in ending up with a desirable crown.
The primary use of this is in BR sporter guns but they start with a lug about 1” diameter, and still very tough to get an ideal crown.

My 2cents....If you only thread the barrel you will be OK. If you reduce the diameter plus thread then you are headed for potential trouble.

A back bore will be tough to clean unless you clean it every time you shoot it. Rimfire cans get nasty!
