Thread protection?

I`ve a muzzle brake from Defensive Edge that works great but I need some kind of protection for the threads when it isn`t mounted.
I`ve talked to DE but they don`t make èm.
Can you guys help me out with a name or company who can help me out with this problem before I damage the threads.
The thread pitch is 5/8"-24tpi.

Any competent machinist should be able to make a cap, Harrells makes them but they are 32 TPI... If your in a hurry wrap electrical tape around the threads..........

Thanks so far.
You guys have it way better then we have it here in Sweden.
Could you possibly suggest someone who could make one for me?

Thanks for posting this issue...I have pondered it for some time.

If one removes a MB that weighs x and has a length of y, would one then safely presume POI would change as the moment has changed?

The threaded bushings I have made have run the gamit. Some pretty (marry the OD of the barrel with precision) and others that are larger and UGLY. The larger ugly ones allowed me to continue to shoot, face a portion and shoot some more.

I am not familiar with your shooting application, but when you screw your MB on, shoot and record. There have been some recommendation floating around to take .005" off at a time and see how it effects POI. You may wish to perform same-same on your protective bushing.

Being redundant, when you remove the MB and replace it with a threaded bushing of x weight, the imaginary pseudo-tuners become less imaginary. Check your POI and/or follow up with some load work and see how it talks back to you.

My take is one can be precise with both scenarios but it takes a little homework.

Shapelock. It's cool stuff. Make anything you want in plastic.

Edit:

Oh, wait, you need something to go on the barrel and take the heat. I get it now. Shapelock is still good stuff, but probably not for that. ;D
