Thread Insert for Tikka t3X Stock

I have a T3X Light that has a damaged threaded insert that needs replacement. It is the one that is used for the screw that holds the pistol grip. So far, I have unable to find the specifications so I can buy a replacement – not even a TIKKA authorized repair center. It’s not shown on the parts list. I’ve sent Beretta CS an email and no response other than acknowledging the receipt of the email.

Anyone out there know the specs or a source for this insert?

I posted on numerous websites and nobody responded. I emailed Beretta through my account and never got a response.

After making the best measurements that I could make on the mutilated screw & insert, I couldn’t find an available metric insert Close to my measurements. I decided that the insert that would be remotely close to what I measured was a #8-32 insert. It worked!!

I’m not convince that was what TIKKA used but close enough. Now, I can use the original grip or the vertical grip. I might note that the problem started with the vertical grip not properly fitting the factory stock (see image below) and the pilot hole that accepts the threaded insert was very slightly mispositioned. With a fair amount of tweaking, things worked out to where I have the grip fitting as it should.

I’ll try to get pictures asap but it might be a day or so. I’m scheduled for rotator cuff surgery next week and am running crazy with trying to get all things in "order", prior to.

Well, I need to take remedial reading. I got pictures but not the one I think you want.

Here are a few more. One of the vertical grip as is currently installed. If you look at my 2nd post, that was the picture of the original fit. Note big gap at the heel of the grip and the stock. Now the grip fits as well as the original that came on the gun.

Note that the cap screw fits below center of the hole in the grip. Probably due to a slight change of axis between original and replacement insert

These are the fasteners that I used. The inserts were 3/8" long.

Won't even mention what numbnut idea was careening around in my pea brain,on some particular stocks here. Glad to see how those engineers took it on.
