Thoughts on Non toxic deer hunting bullets fit for the 6mm ARC

Seems like we have a good number of standard cup & core bullet options fit for hunting with the 6mm ARC. Care to share your thoughts on the Non toxic offerings fit for the 6mm ARC?

Suggestions will depend on your bbl twist.

Copper solids are longer than their lead core counterparts and that means the twist needs to be faster. You will get better suggestions when you say what twist you are using.

When they fist banned lead in the Condor Ranges, folks were experimenting with Barnes bullets. It turned out that they have their pros and cons like anything else.

Later, they jammed that lead ban down our throats state wide, even though there is no biological evidence it has any effect on their blood lead levels. In this thread, that means even more folks were forced to learn to hunt game with them.

That Condor Range covered some good wild pig country, so I was in on it for pigs. If you keep any of them A) Stable with the correct twist, and B) in the recommended speed range, they kill just fine and tend to penetrate very well and usually exit unless they hit a lot of bone and gristle plate.

I use the TTSX when available, and the TSX if I can't get the TTSX. The difference being the plastic tip on a TTSX versus a regular meplat on a TSX.

There is a Barnes 80 grain TTSX that kills well enough, and also an 85 TSX that I like for pigs using 6 Dasher so close to the same speed range as ARC.

Hammer Hunters range from 55 all the way to 104 grain, so you have to select the weight range that coordinates with your twist.

Barnes, Hornady and Hammer all make some fine non lead bullets that do a great job on critters with accuracy and penetration. Try some, find a couple your rifle likes and use them.
Hammer does have a sample pack policy, so you can try various one's without having to buy a 100 at a time. Check them out. They are a great game bullet.

Suppose I was looking to compare notes more than anything. Also curious if the lesser velocity typically seen in the AR firearms may be deterring folks from utilizing most of the all copper offerings in the AR platform.

Only example of nontoxic hunting bullets being put to use on game with a AR platform was a 4 year old girl that took 2 deer in a rather short time span with a non toxic option. actually the bullets seemed quite toxic.

For my 6.5 Grendel, I run a 105gr MKZ (G1 BC .480) from a 24" upper over a hot charge of N530. It gives me over 2800 fps, and groups around 1/2" or better. I've had good expansion and excellent penetration out to 300 yds which is about the farthest shot I can take on a deer. They have a 92gr 6mm version that should be a great choice for a 6mm ARC. They are expensive at around $1 per bullet, but their performance is worth it to me.

I don't really understand why there aren't more monolithic hunting options available. I'm not a fan of Barnes because they typically require a relatively high impact velocity to work as designed. Many of the other big names have developed similar reputations. I'm also not a fan of fragmenting bullets like the options from hammer and lehigh. Conversely I've had great results from the MKZ that Cavity Back makes from both my 6.5G and 300 BO uppers. I know people who have used the Rex and TRex from Maker and have also had great results.

There must not be much to it if a four year old can do it.

I like Hornady CX and Barnes TTSX/LRX/TSX. I haven't tried the e-tips, nor have I shot 6MM, but I do shoot 6.5mm, 308 and 338. Hard to beat Barnes performance, IMO. Hornady less impressive, but still no slouch.

I am more in the camp, that apparently her mentor is doing something right, perhaps, doing a lot right. From the rifle platform, to the tripod, to the load selection & starting out dispatching coyotes may have gone a long ways towards prepping for the deer hunt.
