This scope for a 22?

I have two gen2 10-40x56 one is on a anshutz the other on a 6br ... Not a sightron but a good scope for the money.. The gen 2 is the same as gen3 scope they changed the turrent caps but the erectors inside are the same and everything else the same save your self some money.

I figured for $335 dealer price, I would try. The trend sure does seem to be going towards these athlon/arken/dnt etc.

Only reason I’m looking is because my Leupold is going back for warranty. I figure if this scope goes wacky I’ll throw it in the river and get something else. I’m pretty easy on my equipment so hopefully it works. The most low rent domestic stuff that’s similar is +/- quadruple the price. And is it really domestic? Anyway, we’ll see. I’ve wasted more money than this countless times so if it’s a miss, oh well!

It’s a popular scope in ARA and ABRA Factory classes. It doesn’t have “killer” glass, but is very serviceable.
For 50-100 yds, in your opinion, will it be clear enough, hold zero, and track? That’s all I want. I don’t know if mirage is a factor at 50yds, but I don’t shoot when it’s hot, never dealt with mirage in my Leupold vx3 6.5-20 long range. Probably because of where I live and when I shoot.

Waterproof, fog-proof, and shockproof, this Argos is made for real-world use. ;)
I assume that is sarcasm, maybe not? Mine will not be tested in fog/shock/water :D

I know it’s an ebt card china scope. My interim scope on this 22 is a $3k setup. That seems silly. Although it is pretty nice.

Maybe it’ll be a situation like so many others for me where I ultimately end up with a $2k scope on it. I’ve seen this movie before.

Quality is worth waiting for. I personaly have never had good results out of a Chinese scopes. I have a SWFA Ultralight 2.5x10 Japanese that is almost worthless due an unforgiving eyebox I wish I never bought. A Chinese SIG 3x9 that lost the ability to change elevation, and a Chinese Vortex that moves where it wants to instead of somewhere near a quarter inch per click.

I save, wait (now is a good time of year), and buy deals on good stuff. One of my best deals was a Sightron 3x16 from Grafs (pre inflation) for $299.

I had the Gen 2 and have a Gen 3. Scope tube are very thin. Gen 2 went back for warranty after I torqued the rings down per the manufacturer instructions and made the focus knob hard to turn. Got a Gen 3 back and anything over 8" pounds on the tube is a no go without issues making the focus knob stiff to turn compared to the smoothness before installed. You get what you pay for. It now sets on an air rifle.

If you shoot in hot muggy weather, mirage is a real thing at 50 yds, you can turn the magnification down to reduce it, but it's still there. I have several entry level (Talos) Athlon scopes on varmint rifles that have made cross country trips to rat/pdog shoots, never lost zero.

If it’s hot and muggy. I’m relocating asap. No.

I have experience with four of the Gen 2 models on 22LR rifles.

The glass in three of them was plenty clear enough for 50 and 100 yd. shooting. All four of them tracked and held zero.
The glass in one wasn't as clear as the other three. This is the only complaint I've had.

Very decent scope for the money.

Hope this helps.... Merry Christmas!!
