Thimble Ratchet for new LE Wilson Case Depth Micrometer?

Gentlemen,
I know I am literally picking fly dropping out the pepper, however, I really like the new Wilson Case Depth Micrometer though I can't help but think it would be a better tool with a micrometer thimble ratchet. I know nothing about making such a conversion, however, I am guessing simple it is not? Would anyone have an idea?

There are a lot of different options
1. Use a 3" micrometer head that reads directly in .0001. (this might be my favorite except you are still dependent on Wilson for the case gauges)

2. Use a common micrometer head with a ratchet or friction thimble. You can buy a real micrometer head for less than $20 complete with ratchet.
3. Use an ordinary depth mike - the Wilson head is nothing but a depth mike.

4. Most people only use a ratchet as a speeder/spinner, that is using a thumb and finger you can more rapidly rotate the thimble. It needs no ratchet feature since most people do not use the ratchet. Most old times consider the ratchet a beginner's feature.
5. Make your own case gaging micrometer. Use a Wilson .50 BMG trimmer and a standard micrometer head. Then make your own datum bushings and you can measure any bottle neck case - not just those that Wilson makes a gauge for.
6. You can buy the ratchet assembly as a replacement part from Starrett or other company and install it
7. Or buy a used micrometer head with a ratchet, remove the ratchet for your use and sell or store the micrometer head.
8. Finally - use an indicator stand and .0005 or .0001 indicator (but you are still dependent on Wilson for the basic case gauge.)
Wilson does not make a gauge for every case.

Someone else made one at one point in time if I remember correctly

Ireload2,
Appreciate all of the suggestions. Aware of a few. Own a Starrett Depth Mic just like you have pictured.

Ratchet thimbles are likely not held in high esteem by old machinist but what is? Free coffee? I was issued a Mitutoyo Micrometer when I got to school and I eventually replaced it with a Starrett with a thimble ratchet AND carbide faces. I personally consider both items to be an improvement. No doubt they are training wheels and a hinderance to those who do it everyday....
