It would have to be absolute junk to see any misalighnment like that.setting here wondering if i take the rod out of a sizing die ,install the die from underneath so that the top of the die would line up with the hole in the shell holder. then looking down through the die to see how well the holes line up .
Agreed here totallyDo you think you can see a few thou misalignent with your eye, There is only one way the case can go in the die. Sounds like OCD. Been reloading since 1970 and never considered the shell holder forcing the case into the die in some strange way. I assume that as the case enters the die the case and shell holder are free to slide into perfect alignment with the die. The shell holder doesn't grab the case and hold it in a position it cannot move from. As soon as the case body walls contact the the die wall there is alignment. There is nowhere for the case to move except follw the die. The bigest variable I have seen for accurate varmint rifles is barrel and bullet quality.
ya might think so however the way shell holders are made its just a matter of turning/setting the shell holder in the right way . thing is you don't know untill you find out which way it leandsIt would have to be absolute junk to see any misalighnment like that.
What I did 4 or 5yrs ago. Just replaced that first o-ring a month ago have enough left to outlast me.Remove the clip on an RCBS and switch it for an O-Ring.
we buy a press assuming the ram is dead centered on the center of the die . is it ? on my MEC the shell holder is free to move a few thousands in any direction there by not adding any stress but up into a die . does my RCBS do that ?? I don't know
I use #14.What is the o-rings number for a RC? 17?
