Well we just had a 500m (548 yards) CF (LG and HG classes), and 200 yard Rimfire FLY Australian nationals here in Perth Western Australia
i had been trying the 6BRA for about 7 or so months and gave up on it after 900 rounds for trying to get it to shoot and screwed my old 6BRX barrel back on the the nationals (that after this weekend has done 1700 rounds on it)
this barrel was always a ripper, 30 inch 1;7.5 twist HV Krieger using 105gr hybids and 32.4gr of 2208/varget and CCI450s at 3000fps
Rest of gun is a Panda F class dual port, Jewell trigger, McMillan F class stock and a Nightforce Comp scope, running on a farley rest (gun Built by David Kerr)
the barrel went off at approx 1200 rounds and i put the Labradar on it as about 1500 rounds and saw i lost 70fps (was down to 2930fps) i redid my load testing and bumped load back up to 32.9gr of varget and am at 2980-90fps.
i then took barrel off and was playing with the 6BRA for last 7 months, i got sick of it and swapped back to 6BRX a month ago and used my adjusted load and boom shot like a dream.. i then took it off and put aside for nationals if i couldn't get the BRA working , well i didn't and 6BRX back on i checked my lands again and adjusted hybrids to .008 jump and off we went to nationals
in the 500m fly LG i finished 4th only a few points behind Rusty and his 6BRA and a 6BR and dasher taking the top spots
i did win the smallest group target of 1.718 inches (had 4 under an inch then wind backed off and i didn't see it)
the next day in the 500m fly HG i got 2x pending National Fly records, Smallest group of 0.848 inches and highest scoring target of 60.02 (only 2nd time in 30yrs i have been told anyone has shot a 60 score)
i had 1 average target for the day which made me finish 2nd over all behind a good old 6BR and a 284 behind me
finished 3rd in 200 yard RF with a borrowed gun so i was happy as
in 2 gun CF (LG and HG combined) i came 3rd
2 gun Best LG or HG score and RF i came 1st
3 gun (LG, HG and RF) i came 2nd
just happy the old 6BRX barrel is still a goer
