The World's Largest Army

My son sent this to me via the Internet. Interesting info, if the facts are correct.

"A logger added up the deer license sales in just a handful of states and arrived at a striking conclusion:

There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin. Allow me to restate that number. Over the last several months, Wisconsin's hunters became the eighth largest army in the world. More men under arms than in Iran ... More than in France and Germany combined.

These men deployed to the woods of a single American state to hunt with firearms, and no one was killed.

That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and Michigan's 700,000 hunters, all of whom have now returned home.

Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia and it literally establishes the fact that the hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world. (4 states = 2.3 million hunters)

The point?

America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that kind of homegrown firepower. Hunting -- it's not just a way to fill the freezer. It's a matter of national security."

Yes, great email. During the early 90's Pa. actually had a million hunters who hit the woods. Alas, more people, more houses, less youth interest and the old school hunters getting older and hanging it up.

Thats what scares those bleeding heart, tree huggin, bunny kissing liberals in D.C. They don't control the "worlds largest army" and that scares the hell out of them.

Thanks for the post. I often worry about my unborn children's rights and freedoms being given up by the masses. This made me feel a lot better as I expect our current president to start working on some regulations if he gets reelected.

The Deer Almanac has some good information and statistics on numbers per state, records, etc..., You ever see one, pick one up, the numbers may be shocking...

This is part of the new world order. Why do you think swillary is working with the president to circumvent the constitution. The un is behind the whole thing as they want the private owners of the world disarmed by 2016.I dont think any American with a spine will turn in anything but the bird.Your note reminds me how strong a nation we live in.I love my country and we are the freeist country on the planet.God bless America

Dave, I do not mean to pry as it is your family's business, but was it found that the person who killed your uncle was a maniac actually aiming at humans to kill them or was it somehow an idiotic case of mistaken identity or cases of careless ricochet?

I have been shot at by an old-timer wielding something like a 30-30 who had to shade the sun with his hand, yet he still took the shots. I never thought he'd really shoot. I thought he was checking me out for some reason, but my blood ran cold when I heard the first bullet go by and then the concussion of the rifle. Thank god he was shooting offhand at 230 yards and he did not use the fence he was walking as a brace.

I told the local game warden who it was, but have never heard any follow up.

Pennsylvania's rifle deer season doesn't start until the Monday after Thanksgiving so it's a bit premature to say they've all returned home. If you're referring to 2010 they didn't all return home.

Dave, as I said in my brief, first sentence: My son sent this to me via the Internet. Interesting info, if the facts are correct.

Don't know what the original source was.

I suspect if Obama or the UN send out the troops to collect our firearms, MOST will turn them in. When push comes to shove the fear of going to jail or being killed will soften a lot of intentions. It would take a lot of organization to fend off a gun grab. I don't think we will have a "Red Dawn" experience.

From Brownell's October WebBench - (I think we are in serious trouble on a lot of fronts if Obama gets re-elected)

One change we have to be very careful doesn't happen. Our president is currently pushing very hard to get the US senate to ratify the Soros-sponsored United Nations treaty on firearms control. Be sure you contact your federal Senator personally and council them on the fallacy of this treaty. For all of us who love our guns and our hunting and our American way of life, this program will change our constitutional rights forever. One of the major reasons this country was not attacked during WWII was the very correct belief by our western enemies that there were more guns in the hands of the citizens than even in the hands of the military. This is still the case. But, with this UN treaty, that can all change. I cannot truly believe the huge and vast majority of Americans want to side step our constitutional rights.

Although it is early to get political, this is as good a time as any to make sure you are prepared for another possible problem on the horizon. If this president wins another term, and has the opportunity to appoint another Supreme Court judge – a very strong possibility - a young and very anti-gun Judge may get appointed. Obama has done this twice before, despite what the candidates for appointment claimed in their hearings. If that happens, the Second Amendment may well go away – or be so redefined as not applying to the individual citizen – that our individual rights as gun owners will disappear. Remember we only won the judicial challenge of personal ownership under the Second Amendment by a vote of 5 to 4. The next Judge likely to retire is a conservative and if Obama gets a chance to replace, the vote will be exactly opposite and against us. So be prepared to get politically involved this year and next. We have shown we can weather an administration and their ideals. What we cannot weather is a Supreme Court decision that wipes out our individual right to bear arms. If this happens, there isn’t going to be a chance to pass on our beloved guns or our passion for hunting or competing. We all have seen the most onerous results of the "changes" promised and the unbelievable national debt that has resulted. I'm going to get political – well always have been anyway, but really going to get that way this time around. You MUST also.

I have to put my $.02 in as well, to start off with there has been some interesting comments. I agree with DaveBergs first post, spot on although it was very sad about his uncle, same thing happened to my Grandad back in the early fifties in Oregon, he was mistaken for a deer ???

itchiTF, your closer to the truth than anyone and I agree with much of what you said.

The cold hard truth is there is several ways the government could get our second amendment rights taken from us and possible to get our guns confiscated, but it would be messy and very problematic for Barry Hussein and his henchmen , however there is a easy way to get most of our weapons in one big push by our beloved UN, Barry and his merry henchmen, you will think I am crazy but I am not, it's called communism and it would only take a year maybe two at the outside. The Government has large stockpiles of grain and they control most of our agriculture operations right now through crep and other farmer welfare programs, I know as I ranch in S.E Washington state, you can make a living on a ranch or farm and not even own a tractor or horse. Most people think Alberstsons, Safeway, Rosaurs, etc. etc. produces our food we eat, truth is farmers and rancher produce our food, a big drought, freeze, or a disease in our livestock or all of the above, with people starving and rioting in the streets, the UN shows up and hands out food for guns and broken promises and there would be a stampede of people carrying there firearms to the government ran soup line's, think I am crazy, paranoid?....it's worked for centuries, country after country. Other then a few outlaws like myself that has huge stockpiles of food and weapons the UN and uncle Barry will get your guns and never fire a shot getting them, it will happen like I said or similar to it unless we stand on our own two feet, do as itchy said and vote these Communists out of office SOON!! or we will be in the same shape as 1930's Germany.

The sad part is most deer hunters do not have more than 40 rds.

Remember your rifle is only a rifle as long as you have ammo. Once your out of ammo it is a club that sucks as a club.

From some interesting facts on hunter populations in a few states ... to a political soap box opera. How did that happen? ???

Easy, you mentioned firearms (very hot political topic) army's, Government, and statistics, combine all those things and it is very political! It was a interesting statistic, I had read it somewhere before but I enjoyed it again, thanks.

Greenspan: "burn down homes to fix the problem"...

Just listen to the first minute you will learn alot about the Fed:

http://www.makemebuy.com/1/post/2011/10/greenspan-says-houses-should-be-burned-to-help-keep-prices-higher.html

The real problem as told by former Fed head Greenspan himself. This is the most important paragraph you will ever read outside of the Good Book:

Quote:
"In the absence of the gold standard, there is no way to protect savings from confiscation through inflation. There is no safe store of value. If there were, the government would have to make its holding illegal, as was done in the case of gold. If everyone decided, for example, to convert all his bank deposits to silver or copper or any other good, and thereafter declined to accept checks as payment for goods, bank deposits would lose their purchasing power and government-created bank credit would be worthless as a claim on goods. The financial policy of the welfare state requires that there be no way for the owners of wealth to protect themselves.
This is the shabby secret of the welfare statists' tirades against gold. Deficit spending is simply a scheme for the confiscation of wealth. Gold stands in the way of this insidious process. It stands as a protector of property rights. If one grasps this, one has no difficulty in understanding the statists' antagonism toward the gold standard."

One thing that continues my faith in our government is that a citizen can still buy the best battle rifle ever made and ammo to go with it from the same government; that being a CMP M1 Garand. Also comparing hunters to a standing Army is kind of far fetched if you ask my opinion.
