The world is a better place without guns?

Here is a article I received from a friend of mine that concerns the ban on guns in Australia, I left out the name but I think it is Worth reading it.

GUNS IN AUSTRALIA Here's a thought to warm your hearts... From ......., a police officer in Australia.

Hi Yanks and Canadians - I thought you all would like to see the real figures from Down Under. It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by a new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by our own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars.

The first year results are now in: Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent, Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent; Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent, yes, 44 percent)! In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent.
,Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not! and criminals still possess their guns!) While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since the criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed. There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the elderly.

Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns." You won't see this on the American /Canadian evening news or hear your government or members of the State Assembly and Ottawa parliament disseminating this information.

The Australian experience proves it. Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws affect only the law-abiding citizens. Take note Americans and Canadians before it's too late!

Thanks for the article. All I can say is that I hope our change in government will be able to turn around and abolish the current gun registry. A lot of money has been spent on it foolishly. Initial costs were to be around 2 million dollars. It currently is exceeding 2 billion dollars. I think the other 1,998 million were squandered away by our corrupt Liberal government to pad there pockets and blame everything on everyone else for the disappearing Federal funds. It would have been better served going to our military to upgrade there equipment in all aspects as well as training. It is time our country stands up, takes a stand, and fights back.

I'm so  glad that things are better in my country, if for example someone decides to break into my house I have the right to be polite and helpful to carry my stuff into his car otherwise the criminal will be pressing charges and I'll see the inside of a jail with a big fine as a finishing touch and of course if he would 'by accident' stumble and fall and in the process landed with his head on my fist I would have to pay him a lot of money as well for abuse and excessive force.

It is a strange world we are living in.

There must be a common denomintor in our countries!!!!! What you said about being polite is just exactly what my daughters Gr. 3 teacher told me on Friday. She mentioned how polite Cdns can be portrayed and that the victim would apologize for the criminal B4 the thought ever crossed there mind about laying charges against them!!!!!

I also heard a while back not exactly sure where it had happened where a thief was up on a roof of a home and fell thru the skylight of that persons home. Guess why got sued? The homeowner!!!!! Go figure.

Politicians have taken the right for a person to protect their castle and changed it to a person must aid the criminal attacking your castle. Crazy.
And facts, like those given by a LE officer of how the new gun laws are working in Australia, will never be shown or given to honest people, so they can really see how it truly works.

I totally agree with the letter from the Australian cop as I actually live in Victoria and had to suffer losing a 10/22 and a Remington 742 woodsmaster in 3006 back in 96 when they were stolen from me from my so-called government what we got was a bunch of laws that say things like you are not allowed to carry a gun in a manor as to alarm the public i know 2 people who lost their licence just because their neighbours seen them put their Firearms in a car to go hunt deer for the afternoon because the neighbour was alarmed don't let them get away with anything stick it right up them

Received this in an email

Once again, the nation has witnessed a horrible, pointless act of violence, with innocent children the victims.

And, once again, we hear from liberals that the answer is gun control.

If we look at what generally characterizes the mindset of those -- generally young men -- who commit these acts, we see what generally characterizes the mindset that has taken hold of our whole culture.

Victimhood, blame and denial of personal responsibility.

Can this be an accident?

Kudos to The Wall Street Journal for having the courage to point to these incidents as signs of a "social and spiritual" problem in the country. "The rise of family dysfunction and the decline of mediating institutions such as churches and social clubs have consequences."

The signs of a society that is sick are all around us: the collapse of family, the collapse of interest in marriage and having children.

In 2021, 107,000 Americans died from drug overdoses, an all-time high and a 15% increase over the previous year.

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, the suicide rate in the U.S. increased 35.2% from 1999 to 2018.

Suicide was the second leading cause of death among young people, ages 10-34, and the fourth leading cause of death among individuals ages 34-44.

A characteristic common to suicides and mass killings is that the perpetrators are disproportionately men.

Men -- generally young men -- commit indiscriminate mass murder, and men take their own lives at a rate almost four times higher than women.

So, men demonstrate in a most unpleasant way another truth that our liberal friends want to deny. Men are different from women -- not just in physical makeup but also in spiritual, psychological makeup.

For whatever reason, our increasingly Godless, materialistic, morally empty culture seems to take a particularly heavy toll on men.

American Enterprise Institute scholar Nick Eberstadt has looked into the recent phenomenon of prime-age men -- ages 25-54 -- who have bailed out of the labor market. These are men who have stopped working and seeking work. The official label is NILF -- not in the labor force.

According to Eberstadt, the total number of NILF men held steady in the 1940s and 1950s at around 1 million. Then in the late 1960s it exploded. There are now 7 million prime-age men who have withdrawn from the workforce.

According to the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, the labor force participation rate of men -- the percent of working age men in the work force -- was 86.2% in January 1950. In April 2022, it was 68%.

The labor force participation rate for women has almost doubled over the same period -- 33.4% in January of 1950 to 56.7% in April 2022.

We've gone from a culture centered on church to a culture centered on government.

According to Gallup, in 1950 over 70% of Americans belonged to a church. In 2020, it was 47%. Among those born between 1981 and 1996, it's 36%.

Over the same period, take of all levels of government from our GDP went from 22.6% to 43.4%.

Sanctity of life was devalued with Roe v. Wade. Military conscription was abolished around the same time, erasing any personal responsibility, beyond paying taxes, that men have to serve.

In this vacuous culture of entitlement and meaninglessness, lost young men periodically make their presence known through violent expressions, sometimes directed at others, sometimes toward themselves.

I do not pretend that this is simple. I certainly agree that security measures should be taken, particularly in schools.

George Washington warned the nation in his farewell address that there is no freedom without faith, tradition and personal responsibility.

The same liberals that have helped wipe this out now want more government in the way of new gun laws to solve what is a cultural and spiritual crisis.

Its all about controlling people, regardless of the method and diatribe promoted at different times in history.
People are the problem, not the implements and ideologies employed.
People will continue to be the problem and grow, get worse of over time.
Then see what happens, short, medium and long term fixes will be very creative and in the end down right horrid, but necessary.
Off planet exploration and colonization is a stretch at best, probably will never be viable.
The sun will go out, meteors will come to earth, black holes will appear and a few things no one knows of yet.
Humans will continue to be greedy, self serving and hatefully destructive, its in their nature.
Don't think for a minute any of these idiots cant start another world war, its coming, its just when.
Don't worry, be happy, it will all end soon enough.

That is sadly what happens when government makes stupid decisions and citizens dutifully obey. It is a sad situation for our friends down under. We are on the brink of it happening here. Government creates a problem and then makes it worse trying to fix it.
Always remember, even the biggest Dunce cannot be wrong 100% of the time...by accident!!!
This “Oops, we messed up” is just a ruse. They don’t care about you, your property or your children. And they most definitely are NOT trying to fix it!
