The Vortex Razor HD 5-20x50 Tactical Rifle Scope For Prairie Dogs?

I've looked at several different scopes to use for a mid-range prairie dog set up. For the money the Vortex Razor HD 5-20x50 Tactical Rifle Scope seems to offer a lot. I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with this scope or other recommendations similar in style?

Closest I have is the 6-24x50 PST's.......

Plenty of scope for my dog guns.......

Buy a Razor & let me borrow it............

;D

That Razor is a FFP optic, so reticle size may be obtrusive on a small target at increased distance. Some FFP reticles appear quite thick with the mag. ring zoomed up, despite that fact that they subtend & cover the same amount of target regardless of mag. setting. That would be a personal call to make...
Can say that I swapped my 5-25x56 Premier onto a 6x45 for p-doggin' and it was an absolute pisser to use! The Gen II XR reticle is very fine, and being able to hold consistent wind at any mag setting was a real bonus when engaging out to 750yds. But to be clear, I only used that scope because I already owned it, it was certainly not a purpose driven purchase for p-dog shootin'...

If I had $2K to spend on a "p-dog" optic, I'd grab a Nightforce NXS or BR. Glass is plenty good & clear for daylight varmint shooting, and the turrets are rock solid repeatable. And the SFP reticle might be more user friendly for tiny engaging p-dogs & ground squirrels. Plus, you'd have several hundred dollars leftover, especially if you caught a deal on a used Nightforce.

Good luck & have fun!

Short story. I bought last year's version for $1699 With the ebr2 reticle. It's fine enough that as I dial up it doesn't obstruct the picture. The field of view is not as good as others listed in the previous post. When a buddy of mine were shooting the gongs out to 1250yds I left it at 10.5 magnification. The glass is very good and didn't feel the need to for higher power. There's some good features on the scope and for the price I'm satisfied. The warranty is excellent, as is the customer service. If I had $1000 more dollars I would have bought the Kahles.

Here is a good breakout of top scopes: http://precisionrifleblog.com/2014/09/19/tactical-scopes-field-test-results-summary/

Vortex does well, but there are other options as well.
Excellent article, the information provided has made me rethink my options. Ironically, I have the Number one listed scope, a Schmidt & Bender 5-25x56; I simply don't want to spend that kind of money for a backup rifle for varmints. I think my best option at this time is to watch the sales on this site and see what becomes available. I really want to keep the price at or below $2,000

look at a sightron 6x24x50 with MOA reticle. I now own 3 and they are as clear as any scope I have looked at. I tried a vortex but sold it as it was not as clear as I liked also not good at high power. I looked around and me and buddys got 6 of the sightrons for $650 each. as I said we are very happy with them and have used them out to 1400yds. I got my elk at 958 yds.
