The REALLY big stuff - .50, .416, .408, .375-408, .338 Lapua?

When the 7mm talks: the conversation ends.
Anybody shooting the BIG stuff? I'm intersted in building a .375-408 tube gun.

check out black diamond rifles. email dave viers and he can tell you all about these big boomers. check out his line of Viersco Mag (VM). 338VM, 375VM, 416VM, 458VM. they are a redesigned case--basically a worked over .408CT case and have a lot more volume. teh .458 VM has over 10,000 LBS of energy!!

Dave Viers (Viersco) cartridges based on the CT or similar sized cases:

338 SnipeTac - http://www.blackdiamondrifles.com/338_SnipeTac.html

375 SnipeTac - http://www.blackdiamondrifles.com/375_SnipeTac.html

375 Viersco Magnum (VM) - http://www.blackdiamondrifles.com/375_Viersco_Magnum.html

416 Viersco Magnum and 458 Viersco Magnum - http://www.blackdiamondrifles.com/375_Viersco_Magnum.html (scroll down the page)

Other possible cartridges - http://elr-resources.com/page14.html

Also see the "ELR - Beyond 1000 Yards" forum on SnipersHide - http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=5&page=1

Large tube guns - see the stock/chassis maker sites to see whose stocks will support the required action/receiver:

Cadex - http://cadexdefence.com/index_sub3_cfs.html

McRee (TMAG) - http://www.mcreesprecision.net/sp_pr_t.htm

PDC Custom - http://pdccustom.com/

XLR Industries - http://www.xlrindustries.com/Index.html

That should keep you going for a while.

If you are primarily interested in using this rifle for extreme long range (ELR), see http://elr-resources.com/index.html

What is the current status of Jamison?? Are they the only supplier of brass for the CheyTac cartridges?

If you are good at making hits with either of these at 1,000yds then going to more power is like cheating.

TonyR:

Appears Jamison is "offline" for the foreseeable future.

Alternatives are:

Actual CT spec brass: HSM – 375 CT and 408 CT (both built by Bertram) - http://store.thehuntingshack.com/brass.aspx

Else Google to see if you can find anyone with either Bertram or Jamison in stock.

Actually, I'd also try CT direct (assuming you can reach anyone) and ask for recommendations - http://www.cheytac.com/

Otherwise you’re talking “cartridge designer” brass:

Allen Precision – for their CT-based Allen Magnums - http://www.apsrifles.com/General_Price_List.html

Joel Russo/Bruce Baer - for the CT-based 338 Big Baer (built by Bertram) - http://www.russoriflestocks.com/Contact_Us.html or http://www.baercustomrifles.com/contact.html

Viersco – for their CT-based 338 SnipeTac and 375 SnipeTac - http://www.blackdiamondrifles.com/Services-Pricing.html

Xtreme – for their 505 Gibbs/CT-based 338 Xtreme - http://www.xtrememachining.us/products_338xtreme.html
