THE MOST HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE

PACKING UP AND MOVING A RELOADING AND GUN ROOM!!!

We are moving... and the rest of the house has nothing on this room... SOOOOOO many small parts to keep organized and pack together with what it goes with. Breaking down dillon progressive presses, packing it all up, all the accessories... Freaking out about expensive scales and parts... boxes upon boxes of stuff... and haven't even gotten to guns or the 800lb gun safe to move... It's a nightmare!!!! And the worst part is... We ain't getting a new house to put it all back up!! NOPE... Living in an RV for the next few years. ITS GUT WRENCHING GOING FROM BUILDING A HOUSE WITH YOUR OWN PRIVATE ROOM FOR RELOADING AND ALL... TO NOTHING AND ALL IN STORAGE. I COULDNT EVER NOT HAVE A DESIGNATED ROOM FOR IT ALL AGAIN. WAY TOO MUCH STUFF!!!

The crazy roads life leads you down, and job opportunities you can't pass up... SACRIFICE is an understatement.

BUT, With the good lord blessing we will hopefully be able to come back around one day and build another house and a gun room twice the size!!! (Now that I know 12X12 with cabinets, counters, and wall cabinets isn't big enough!)

6 days until we move, packing up a house putting stuff in storage, AND a baby due TODAY, that hasn't come yet... we gotta pop her out STILL, between now and moving... TALK ABOUT STRESS!!!!!!!!!!!

ALL the while my wife sleeps because she's worn out miserable and prego...

well its nice you can blow off some steam. for me ive found i only feel stress if i let it happen. it took me awhile to figure this out. practically speaking i built my shop/gun room on its own lot for just the reason you are experiencing. i moved around enough i got so i wasnt going to move all the stuff again or use storages--at least if i move from the house for whatever reason i dont have to move all that stuff. what are you going to do with all your stuff while youre in the rv

and thinking about this 36x72 building we are putting on the market, packing it up,taking down shelves, spackling and cover paint,,store till new ones built,,damn,,

@Sniper338 I know exactly what you're going thru. We moved in March to a new home with a full basement. I thought (and told a couple of people so) that I would have it all moved and a new shop built in a month at the most. Well, it's been very near three months now and I am still dead in the water. Making progress thanks to my very capable son and some very good friends but It will be late July or August before all is back in production. Good luck!!

Aw quit your bellyaching. Don't you know there are people starving in China?:p

Seriously, Good luck with the job, the baby and the move. Hope you have all the steel parts oiled. I know it's not advisable for you now but I deal with stress by buying more gun stuff.e-crazy.gif

I started out with pretty nice 7' tall expanding cabinet in a laundry room.Built our house and snagged a big unfinished BR.... few years later got run outta that BR,and moved to another unfinished big BR....Stayed there for a few years and finally all the youngins left a 12X12 "finished" nursery.... so that's where it is now.

There's no equipment in there other than dedicated reloading stuff..... all the equipment is in shop. One thing I learned was to pare down all the reloading gear through the above moves. It wouldn't be "that" bad to move again, but not something to look forward to?Good luck with your move.

I moved three times in two years...from a 4800 square foot farm house to a 3800 ft house to a 1500 foot house. I am now back in my very first reloading room, where I started in 1978 with a RCBS Junior, a scale and a trimmer. Then I had one shotgun, two rifles.

Now I have four presses, a "couple" guns, and after 12 months I am still not settled. I get it. I too hope to be in an RV 10 years from now. But I will still have the house and it is very secure. So I will build a traveling bench and case, a couple multipurpose guns and on with life I go.

This upcoming season will re-align your percieved needs. It may actually be good for you. In the mean time, if the piles get too high, I need spare a 700 actions, barrels, bullets, so feel free to PM for my address and I will "store" them for you....;)

And congrats...all that matters now is that little one on the way. Really

Two years ago I moved to Arizona and had A LOT of reloading "stuff", but no loading room! It took a couple months to get one built out.. I also bought a 6ft. steel cabinet. However, there is STILL not enough room for everything so the closets of 2 other bedrooms are quite full! I will never move again>>>unless some extreme emergency forces one!

When we were first married and living in a one bedroom apartment I had my RCBS Jr. Press "C" clamped to the kitchen table loading 243 Wins and 357 mags.

My poor wife who grew up without guns or hunting must have thought she married a mountain man.

She was a good sport about it and never complained. Over 40 years later, still married to the same great woman she tolerates by obsession with shooting and hunting. :) A good and understanding wife is as critical as a good rifle.

Where there is a will there is a way. Improvise and adapt until you can restore your loading room.

PS: Hint on moving - you probably know this already but don't let the movers move your firearms. My grand father's double barrel shotgun disappear when we moved. Didn't discover it until we unpacked everything days later. I made a claim but it was denied since I signed a release the day we moved it. That was 30 years ago and I'm still hot about it.

After our move from New Mexico to Virginia it took me almost 3 months to finally settle in with my "stuff". You have to find a place for everything and then remember it. Here we are, now planning a possible move to Colorado. Gotta have mountains.

i have reloaded for years in my camper. just takes a little ingenuity. i used a workmate for a bench. used a coax press. adams autotrickler system and all the other goodies. even built AR's and savage rifles there.

i have eventually worked my way down to a harrells combo press, a gempro 250 and little.dandy trickler, harrell benchrest powder measure, pma neck turners and trimmers and a bunch of hand tools and dies that fit neatly in a small box. store it and powder primers and bullets in the storage under the bed.

next camper will be a toy hauler with a reloading room in the back

hope you can make it out west. Awesome shooting opportunities on public land out there. try to take my camper out there every summer.

Feel your pain so you can loan me that 20practical you had finished earlier this year and I will keep it shot in for ya...;)

Moving sucks at best. I can’t imagine going through it with a pregnant wife!

Best of luck with your new opportunity and a growing family!

Been there...Done that about a year ago. It will all work out maybe better than before. Not fun but not the end of the world. It is as bad as we make it.
Best Wishes

I moved 9 times in 8 years. I feel your pain. I finally have all my rifles under one roof. I am Currently outfitting them with optics and getting my Reloading bench / room in our garage set up.

I couldn’t imagine doing the tiny house life with a new born. My 1 year old is a nightmare and we have .5 acres by a park with a 2k sq ft house and big garage with a workshop built in it. I’ll be in this house for hopefully the next 15 years or so. I wouldn’t mind doing the tiny house on like 200 acres, but I would have to be divorced and my son would be grown. I would want to do that lifestyle on my own terms.

May god be with you on that one. Good luck!!

Sniper338 , there were a few guys who used very inventive ways to stash reloading tools to be used in the RV of their choice. Do a search it may give you cool idea's. I hope the baby is born healthy and strong. God Bless your Family.
