With apologies to the Beatles; but this one leads somewhere here.
Last February Will Melendez listed a CERUS stock with fantastic grain structure for sale ($1800). You all know how that works, but I was broke at the time. It stayed up long enough for me to offer half now, and the rest on April 1st. Done. I had been watching FeMan's posts on ELR rifles. He had me order a BAT HR action, and a B'nA Competition trigger. Both came, and then a Bartlein 308 caliber HV contour 30" long barrel with a (9" twist. Next a Hawkins floor plate and MDT magazines. Then I got lucky, a member here had 300 new LAPUA 300NM cases and both MICRON and RCBS dies for sale. Done!
Then Spartan Precision fitted those pieces together and fit, chambered, and head spaced the barrel.
Six weeks ago I shipped everything to Tom Meredith for fitment. It arrived here on Monday at my FFL's. The stock will go out in the morning to the world renowned shop of Brett Childress (B'cZ) for clear coating. In 6 weeks I hope to be shooting it.
Most of you have experienced this path before, but my only long term builds have been with Shiloh Rifle Mfg.

I may be too old to do this again, but it was interesting... To say the least...

I know you did a lot of homework before the build got rolling but I think you're going to find you went the right way with a 300NM. I have said it before but here it is again; If I had gotten the 300NM 35˚IMP first the 338LM wouldn't be living in my safe.
