The Blue gun shoots well..

I've finished the load work on this 6BR rifle and it shoots extremely well with the 98 grain BIB, and a compressed load of RL-15, and the Russian primers. The bullets are especially accurate but leave a little to be desired for the red mist effect.
The barrel is a 28 inch 8 twist S/S SM Pac-Nor, with a 272 neck, and a Joel Russo stock I tweaked a little and auto clear coated, the trigger is the new Kelby, and on top sets a 12X42X56 NXS Nightforce with my favorite reticule the NP2-DD.
These chucks were shot off of one of the only fields around here that has been cut.
The longest was at 436 yards, and most were only around 300 yards, now that I have the rifle dialed in really good to 500 yards I'll turn the ole BR Pivot around and do some shooting in the pasture behind the rifle that will allow lots of 700 yard shots, and I'm confident the rifle will do as well out that far.

Preacher,

Nice looking rig!

Long range "piggin" sure is a lot of fun.

Let us know how you do in that back field.

I like the NP-2DD reticule too! The lower dot really shines past 500 yds, you have to hold small to shoot small.

Do you think there is an advantage to using the double ring set up, or is it really an aesthetic detail? especially with something as mild, recoil wise) as a 6BR.

I am using the Burris Sig. Zee rings too,1 set).

Preacher,
That is a beautiful gun. I noticed that your gun has a benchrest style stock, where the forearm and the rear of the stock are parallel. Do you find it difficult to adjust for elevation in the field using this type of stock?

Sunbuilder- I just really like those rings and have that many on all my rifles, and handguns even though they really are not needed, well maybe on the 375JDJ Contender !!
If 2 are good then 4 must be gooder, right ?

Ron- When elevation is needed I just crank up the wheel on the front rest.....

Preacher,

I admit the double ring set up defiantly has a "cool" factor.

You must be using -0- ring inserts through out?

If you were trying to utilize tapers how would you know which inserts to choose for middle set of rings?

Improper selection would defiantly cause stress between two outer rings,2 points make a straight line, 4 points maybe)

Chances are .005 increments won't allow you to choose "ideal" amount for middle rings

Just food for thought, not bust-in yer chops!

Respectfully,

Scott

Sunbuilder-- That BAT 3 lug action has a BAT 20 moa SS base on it and everything is very well lined up so I don't need to worry about the signature inserts, and yes they are all zeros. It would be a tough call to try to figure out how they would work using 4 rings like I do.
I plan on giving that 700 yard pasture a work out on Sunday if all goes well..........
