The 22xc Thread

For Me, It's now going to Be, a "Toss Up" between, the .22 XC and,.. the .22 GT !
For the replacement Barrel of, my .22-250 Rem. in a Short Action, Rem 700
Want to Shoot Only, the 50 & 53 grain, V-Maxes and 52, 55 gr Berger Flat based, Var / Tar'gt, Bullets and maybe a few, 55 grain, GK's / Blitz Kings ( For Yotes ) So, 12 Twist, .050 Free Bore for, the Splodies on S. Rats / PD's !
Any tests on WHICH is,. the More "Accurate" / Better, Cart ???
Will, the .22 GT Have, any "Feeding issues", in the Rem action, w/ standard Fact. Floor Plate / Trigger guard ??
Wanting, NO Muzzle "Jump" to See the Splodies ! Under 3,600 fps, WILL Do this, in an 8 pound, BRAKED, Rifle !
Thought's ?
The 22GT 53gr and 20GT 55gr feed like butter from a MDT 6br metal mag. If you are running out of a BDL floor plate you should be fine, If not block them ahead a bit.

Converting Tubb cheap 6XC Peterson brass to 22xc is just too easy. Easy to tune. Shoots really well... Like really well. Case runs in a bone stock Remington bdl.

I'm sure 22gt is the same as far as making brass.

When 6gt Lapua becomes available, if brass prices are not stupid, I might have to say 22 GT might be a thing. Big time. Maybe bigger than the 6gt.

FWIW, I'm pretty sure that I'm pushing a 50gr Vmax 3600 fps from a 22" upper (Wilson 223 Wylde 1:8), and a 53gr Vmax at 3500 fps from a Savage bolt action with a 26" 1:9 factory barrel. Looking at the load data, that seems pretty fast for the 53gr so I need to double check my notes. It just sticks in my head that the extra 3 gr of weight only cost me 100 fps (I'm sure the extra 4" of barrel didn't hurt). I'll have to check my notes to confirm, but it does match the trajectory when I plug it into ballistic software as well.

In my 8.5 pound w / Bi-pod, Braked, Rem700, Sporter, .22-250 Rem. I CAN "See" the "Splodies" and I'm NOT,.. Changing,.. Nothin' !
Getting .223 Ai Velocities, 50 gr. V-Max at 3,550 using 32.3 gr's of, some OLD, WW2,. H-4895
Or, 33.7 grs of, the New, IMR 4895 and Both Loads are, Sub 1/2 MOA in my rifle.

With my Savage, yes. I haven't weighed it, but I'm pretty sure it would have to go on a serious diet to get down to 8.5#. Its a Model 12 with a 26" barrel sitting in an Oryx chassis. I'm not sure what the contour is, but I'm guessing its a heavy varmint. If the recoil impulse increased any, I would no longer be able to see my impacts.

I guess you never know until you try. Looking forward to hearing about the results. It would be really cool if we cold see/watch the results (hint hint). :)
Find / Use, a GOOD Brake, LIGHTER weight, Bullets ( 50, 52 53's,.. Max. ) fairly Fast ( Above, .223 Velocities ) and You,.. WILL SEE,.. the "Splodies" @ 18-20 X using, a Bi-Pod from, a Bench & a Medium weight, ( 8 to 10 lb. ), Rifle
