Back in January I asked what rests guys were using for longer range stuff and I had a lot of help. Well, someone mentioned drgreenlaw.com so I checked them out. Well I sent Dan an email about one of his rest and a customization of his rest (I hate mariner wheels). He emailed me back within 24 hours with very up front and honest answers...I immediately knew that I wanted him to build me a rest and do business with the man. His information was exactly what I was looking for and he addressed everything I want and acted like he appreciated the opportunity to earn my business. When you spend what these rests cost you want to feel like the guy on the other end appreciates you. He went over and above my expectations. This is what he built me:

This thing has the vertical adjustment I was looking for and is a ROCK. I haven't shot off of it yet as I just got it tonite but I'm impressed and will be shocked if I don't love shooting off this thing. It's impressive...thanks to the guys who suggested it. Lots of companies could learn from his customer service skills.

yeah she's a beauty let us know how your rifle tracks in it and how easy it is to adjust on the fly.
Wayne.

Took her for a test spin today...very impressed. Easy and smooth adjustments.

Gun tracks well but I need to work with the sand a bit. I believe it will settle and I'll work on it some too.

Again thanks guys and big thanks out to Dan.

nice machine work. How much does that thing weigh? I built several over the years, but was always trying to make a better one. I still have the first one I made, and just laugh at it when I see it out in the garage (think I still have it). Later on (about number five) I find this 20mm ground lead screw in the trash with a siezed up Mogliece nut on it. The pitch was .100 per inch. The shaft was made out of Thompson rod (hard as hell). I grabed four or five of them to play around with. Cut a keyway just like what your using, and spent the next two or three days deburring the area around the threads. Moglice fits so tight that everything has to be near perfect, and is actually molded around the male thread of the screw. Then I modified the O.D. of the nut to fit a center plug. That rode inside two Conrad ball bearings. Then I made the center hub, and the legs. Ended up with a really nice front rest that was at least an inch too tall for me to shoot comfortably with! Plus the heat from the sun played havoc with me in making the nut too tight for easy movement. I fought it for another year and set about designing a new one based upon the 20mm threaded post. I did several redesigns and finally built one that used a brass nut that was single pointed to fit the male thread. Everything was similar in concept, but sqashed together in a hub. I removed 1.75" from the over all hight. I built these two rests with the idea that I could pull it all apart for storage without needing a wrench. The rest top is another story, and never really came up with anything I liked. I even had one that used a dial indicator to monitor the windage (what a contraption). Just kept going back to the simple flat top with a Sinclair bag.

Judd you're wecome.
I had Dan build mine last spring and he was so helpfull and upfront that whenever someone ask about a rest I give out his web site or phone no.
I got the " E style" but sent him 2 small bubble levels and he milled them right into the base in a T for quick leveling.
P.S. once I got used to it I increased my scores by at least 10 points and still improving.
