I wish to thank the administrator, Jay Christopherson, for cleaning up a rather heated political thread. Leave politics to politicians and protestors, neither of which knows when to use restraint. We don't need it here.

I understand where Jay is coming from, we are suppose to be grown-ups here and more than a few of us started acting like 8 year olds on the playground.

I have to admit that I got involved with a few post that were not necessarily helpful and am glade the mods stepped in. I will not get involved in a thread like that again.

As long as at the end of the day, we all realize it's just individual opinions plain and simple. Nobody has the right answer. Nobody has the wrong answer. Every statement that's typed and read are simply ones that we all read in the media. We all know how accurate that is. We just tend to believe what the media says when it degrades the guy we don't like. Name calling isn't cool but healthy discussion is fine. Politics are very personal to many and things get going fast. Keeping it un personal is best. Just my opinion.

I must admit I have let myself post a lot on the political issues. I have not wished to intimidate anyone but it is interesting to find out what others views are in that respect, since it does in a large way dovetail with our interests as shooters and gun owners.

I will give my best effort to comply though I must opine that our sport like our freedom will never be far removed from politics.

Good Shooting.

Joe

I appreciate the grace that the forum boss showed over the last few months. By allowing some of the discussions (till they turned to name calling etc) it allowed me to find fellow shooters who share other values I have. While I do not think of online folks as "friends" in the true sense of the word, I was encouraged to know that there is an affinity, and I think of some I have gotten to "know" with more affection. I do think that some political activity is necessary in our sport, as such activity is an outgrowth of our values and the fact that it is in the political realm our rights are secured. Now that the "season" is over, it is fine with me to return to talk of neck turning, varmints, nice rifles and the age old Remington vs Winchester Vs Savage vs Tikka arguments. (I like Remingtons....)
I mean it when I say that I am grateful to Jay for the lee-way and for the discipline shown. We have a great forum.

Respectfully,

Snert

I love a little lively debate centered on controversial topics. I don't like folks who stir the pot for the sake of stirring.

Like Snert, I enjoy finding folks who share my way of thinking, and I get a silly little ego boost when someone agrees with me.

Arguments seem to get more heated these days and as usual, folks who know the least, seem to know it the loudest. (not my material) I think that we should always try for friendly, logical, reason, and carefully word it in a way that we would be proud to put our name on. If we do this, we can discuss any topic without getting anyone's feelings hurt, let alone banned from the forum.

It seems crazy that we'd need a referee to break up disputes on this playground, but we've got them, and I hope they don't mind. I for one don't want this to be "guns only or get the hell out". I don't think that it's like that in a gun club, hunting blind, gun show, or anywhere that we gun-nuts gather. jd

Yeah! Let's talk about your opinions on the lowly .223:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

I think the forum bosses and admin's were more than lenient these past few months. Time for the break to end. Thanks guys. It was interesting for a while.( Sorry for the bikini pic):( Josh

This is NOT a political Forum.

The Moderators are spending WAY too much time policing threads that devolve into verbal sparring matches and worse.

I want to be real clear...

If a member displays a pattern of personal attacks, or engages in hostile or threatening behavior, he or she will be banned from the Forum. There will be no discussion, no debate, no appeal. That member, even if he has been with the Forum for years, will be banned permanently and forever.

Another way to look at it... if moderators have to spend more than a few minutes cleaning up a bad mess you create... there is a very good chance you will be banned.

Truce....
jds.. I enjoy a good debate.. A CIVIL debate, one with facts, polite points of views. The past few weeks on the political threads, I sort of blew my cool. I'm really a nice person.
What I saw here was the worst of us. Name calling, photo shopped pictures of the worst sort, bigotry, and hate, and for me, a personal threat. That's not us, that's not who we are.
We can agree to disagree and keep it at that. At our local range we have a rule... No politics, we have more fun shooting that way. Lets try and keep it that way here.
I will.

For this Aussie, the Ignore Thread tool has been the best thing since sliced bread, speaking of which, how did they portion bread before knives were invented?
