Greetings,
I've been a competitive high power shooter for 4+ decades, primarily shooting prone the past 12 years. Cloward built Model 70's evolved into a collection of Cloward built Barnard prone guns. I turned one of them into an FTR rifle for my wife. 4 years ago, I severely injured my right elbow and the 2 surgeries did not make it better. My prone scores dropped and it killed me. I decided against being a Palma / Iron Sight martyr and to give FTR a shot as I have always been a very competitive person.
I was in contact with many of our NW F-Class gurus, and picked their collective brains about this.
I made the choice to put a FTR rifle together. The best part of this build, is that every piece on the rifle was purchased from other forum members and our site sponsors. (With the exception of the primers, powder and my .308 barrel install).
The Stolle Panda F-Class action, and McMillan stock (bedded by CigarCop), Lapua Palma brass and a bunch of Berger 200's came from forum members. The rest is Site sponsor supplied. Jewell trigger (Larry Scott), Phoenix bipod (Phoenix Precision), Brux Barrel (Greg Taylor). Vortex GE (Vortex).
I want to thank the sponsors and our other forum members for the hardware. To Jay, Monte, David O., Tod H, Pat F, et al, thank you!
This rig is still quite new (135 rds), but it seem to be shooting just fine!
