Texas State day 2 finals. And the winners are

Was a great match with the best of people, all known as family! Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make it all happen and taking the time to set up electronics for Friday so we could shoot the team match during a potential hurricane situation. Then switching out for pulled targets to complete the Championship.
Congratulations to all the Champions!

I had a great time and as always Bayou put on a well run match. I would like to offer congratulations to all the tournament and individual class winner, it was well earned against stiff competition in all classes. I would also like to offer a special congrats to Jenn for a new and another national record to her list of accomplishments. And to all my shooting family that I hadn't seen for too long a time, it meant alot to me to catch up and see you all of you guys and ladies again.

I've been swamped since the match and only had time for a quick note for the F-TR folks.

I wanted to also congratulate Bryan, PJ, and Tim on their performance in F-Open and Gregg Foster (any rifle/scope), Kenny Porter (any rifle/metallic sights), Kent Shomber (Palma) and Buddy Reich (Service Rifle).

I had a great time. Well, actually, that's not quite true. I had a horrible time on Saturday, when my rifle developed a growing problem. I went home on Saturday afternoon, toying with the idea of sleeping in the next day. However, I diagnosed the problem and fixed it that night. Sunday was a very different day for me. I started a little shaky but got my confidence back and and had a lot of fun on the last match.

Carl calls my ammo "vampire bullets." I keep explaining that's for werewolves. At any rate, these bullets really came into their own on Sunday.

Thanks to everyone who came out to play with us and I look forward to the next match.

I also wanted to mention the target pulling. At Bayou Rifles, we have been using etargets for a few years now and so it was a "blast from the past" for me and some others to go down to the pits on the trailer and pull targets.

During one of those fun sessions, we observed a big-ash snake meandering along on the impact berm. It looked to be about 4-5 feet long and quite dark. As you can expect, most people had opinions about what type of snake it was. Mine was simply the Indiana Jones' mantra "it's a friggin' snake. I hate snakes." I lost sight of it as it went to the low end of the targets and I figured I would get someone else before it got to me.

It was fun to spend some time talking with friends (new and old) but we kept getting interrupted by bullet impacts or the odd call from the line to pull target so and so. At one point, my shooter was so slow I called back to the line asking to "speed up firing service on target xxx." To no avail. These F-Openers are such prima-donnas.

The F-TR gang was squadded with the slingers and I always find it interesting to see these slingers get into their straightjackets and actually fall on their mat alongside their rifles. I must say that I see fewer and fewer metallic sights now, even in Service Rifle. I got to score for a couple of awesome slingers, always fun to watch.

I found the slingers that I was squadded with to be quite fun!
I never said they were not fun, I just said they were never happy. They grumble all the time, which is a lot of fun to witness, I'll give you that.

I found my shooting jacket in a far corner of my closet. I bought this jacket in 1981. For some reason, it shrank in the intervening years and now it's getting bigger again. It almost fits me. It's the weirdest thing I've ever seen. I might wear it for Halloween and scare the neighbors. I need to find a floppy hat with the patch hanging from the bill.
