Texas Public Hunting

Got a question about public land hunting in TX.....
How much PUBLIC land is available in TX for hunting without paying someone for the 'privilege'?

Here in Orygun, we've got literally millions of acres to hunt on, BLM, Federal USFS and no "fees". From what I've read and been told, TX is really a gun-loving state, but not so much 'land-friendly' when it comes to hunting. Tell me the truth.

Roughly speaking, 5:1 Oregon to Texas.

Those are just high level statistics. A person can only really deal with where they actually plan to visit/hunt and the rest isn't relevant.

I would suggest a tool like OnX Hunt to really see where you can go and then the web to research the prospects. Some BLM/FED lands are too rough or remote to access, while others have some tracks and trails you can use.

In so many words, life is short and I wouldn't let those stats stop me from hunting in TX before you die. There are still places to go depending on how much traveling you like.
