Teslong Mirrors

I was pleased to get an email from Teslong about a week ago saying they were sending me new mirrors to test. They arrived today and all I can say is "Wow". Following their apparent desire to offer as much as the end user might (reasonably) want, these hit it out of the park.

They came in a convenient, neat little plastic box with a foam insert cut to accept each size and keep them from coming up missing during use. The cover lists the nominal sizes of each.

The varying sizes and construction are as shown:

From smallest to largest they are: 5mm (.195" measured), 7mm (.275" measured), 8.3mm (.3335" measured) and 12mm (.470" measured) Note that the larger sizes are a bit more ruggedly constructed than the 5mm, or original, mirror.

I did try them on various barrels but did not include pictures since by now we have all seen plenty of pictures of the inside of bores. I can just say that they did provide clearer pictures and lend more stability when viewing the larger (.284, .308, .357, .430 and .452-inch) bores.

I see that their website lists them at $20 for the set. Even considering mass production, that is a pretty good price and may help those who seem to have issues centering their probes in the bore when working with sizes much greater than .223". I know many will be disappointed that their favorite bore size isn't offered, but this is a great improvement. Maybe other sizes will be offered later and there has been mention here that handgun models might be coming which would create niches for quite a few sizes. Bottom line is that once again Teslong has shown its willingness to serve the customer and not just stick to a "one size fits all" mentality.

When I recently purchased my bore scope right after Christmas thru Amazon it arrived without the little bag with the mirrors in it, I emailed them and it took a bit but eventually I was sent 2 bags of regular mirrors and the same set you have shown here, excellent service I have to say and the larger mirrors work great, in a .40 cal bore and the 9mm mirror I can see 3 lands and grooves in an 8 groove barrel and very clearly.

I'm a happy camper!

What size mirror(s) came with the original purchase? Were there any optional sizes available then?

Original mirrors that came with my two ( one flex shaft and one rigid) were both listed as the .20 caliber size.but in reality fit .223 and larger.

Yes, when they make an error they more than make up for it. Glad you had a good experience.

I ordered a mirror set on Jan. 10th.... impatiently waiting on the slow boat from China. :D

That slow boat is likely due to their closure for the Chinese New Year and maybe even slowed some by that coronavirus outbreak. They should be back up and running after January 31. They are worth the wait.

Tried my Teslong borescope this morning and it worked great. I got the 21" solid rod. I was very surprised to see the black powder fouling in both my 6mm Dasher and my son's 6.5x284. The Dasher only has 294 rnds through it while the 6.5x284 has 356. The ring on both rifles is very obvious along with about 8" or so of black down some of the lands. My hope is this remains powder fouling and has not yet hardened (carbon). Very little to no copper in either barrel, especially the Krieger.

I clean these rifles, religiously, with Kroil/Lucas followed by Butch's Bore Shine. I even used a copper brush, occasionally. Apparently, this was not enough. I will now, hesitantly, turn to either JB or Boretech as I see no other options.

The only slight negative with the Teslong is: when turning the rod for a better view, it's hard not to put stress on the fiber optic cable. You have to twist it which is not the best for longevity.

You have the 21" rigid scope. There for the cable from the handle to the device plug is wire, not fiber optic. Twist and bend it without fear of breakage.

It is the 40" flexible model that can be broken if bent or stressed too much. (the section that enters the bore)

Thank you! I didn't realize that.

Mine is broken (USB cable) despite the care I gave it
