Tempilaq - use paint thinners ?

I recently bought some 450 deg F and 700 deg F Tempilaq.

The 700 is hard to apply, it resembles a thick paste or a glue rather than a liquid. I have heard you can use paint thinners to restore Tempilaq to a liquid form when it gets like this. The 450 is fine, paints on the case body easily.

Can regular paint thinner be used without affecting the Tempilaq melting point ?

I'm not sure about using regular thinner but they do sell thinner...also you only need to apply a very thin coat on the shell.

You can buy Temiplaq paint thinner from McMaster Carr, and they will have it on your doorstep about the time you hang up the phone. I just ordered from them this week, and it was delivered the next day. The thinner is about half the price of the paints. $5 or so a bottle

According to tempilac only their green thinner should be used. I'm sure it's available from many sources, but Brownells sells the 2 oz. bottle for $5.55 plus shipping. If your tempilaq is too thick it needs thinner added as it does tend to dry out.
