Tell Me Why ??

I see info in this section routinely on the 6.5 Creed and the 6.5 Grendel, but don't see any info on the 6.5 X 55 Swede. Why is that ?

bc its not the new kid on the block. its old and partly forgotten. i still love mine though.
matter of fact it will be with me on monday here in pa for deer season.

There is a lot of info on the Swede....do a search. Much of the info is for the Improved versions which find a decent following in Long Range Benchrest. I hunt whitetails with a 30' Improved Swede.

Looking for any info. I recently acquired a Swede barrel for one of my Encore pistol platforms and have been very pleased with it's preformance. It is scary acurate with the 120 grain Nosler BT and plan on uncasing it for PA Whitetail this coming Monday. Have found it to be easy to load for. Have been using IMR 4350, which it seems pleased with. Have also tried H414, which is about on a par with 4350. Just been wondering why it doesn't get more press; it sure seems that it deserves it. Thanks.

LHSmith - I have worked with a few Improved cases, but not the Swede. What are the gains that you find ? Thanks.

Never had a standard Swede to compare. I have a few places on our lease where +500 yard shots present themselves. I had a .300 RUM custom shop Rem....but I have become less tolerant of recoil with age. I consigned to build a 6.5 x .284, but my rifle builder friend had a Lilja in the Swede Imp. chambering , so it was mated to a rem. 700 LA. It is very flat shooting with Berger 130 VLD's. The dies are costly though......I would not shy away from a standard 6.5 x 55 with the right barrel and chamber....and range time. The Improved version is very pleasant to shoot however.

Mine will be with me next week in PA as well and I'm in the process of putting together one for some LR work.
