TC Encore question

I ordered a 209x50 Encore muzzleloader for a friend, and when he came to pick it up he started talking about what bullet he might use, sabots). He said he wanted to go with a lighter bullet..., and that's when I stopped him. I started thinking as a highpower shooter/reloader who understands,at least a little)about bullet weights, twist rates, bearing length, etc. I mentioned that the lighter bullets might not stabilize properly, and he would want to try a few different bullets. Then I started think a little more about the fact that a sabot is being used, and the bullet would not actually engage the rifling so the "bearing surface" might not be a factor. I began to wonder if bullet weight will really make that much difference in this case. I assume it will, at least to some degree, but would like some input from those with experience. TIA

The combination that has worked the best in my Encore 209/50 is T/C 250gr Shockwaves in front of 2 Triple seven pellets,100gr)with a Remington ML209 primer. This combination will shoot under an inch at 100yds in my Encore. I have shot doe whitetail at 185yds and the effects of these bullets is devastating. Great expansion and weight retention. I tried heavier and lighter combinations of both bullet and powder charge in this rifle and this is what it liked the best. Hope this helps.
