Target sports USA and probably the mixup of the decade for me.

So I ordered 5,000 federal 205m primers from Target Sports USA. It had been over a week and the UPS tracking said it was still processing. I emailed them about this, and they said it would be moving by the beginning of next week. Well, Tuesday came around, and my primers got delivered. All is well.

Now for what happened after.

The next day, I got a notification on my phone that UPS was delivering a package. I thought it was odd because I nor the wife ordered anything. The UPS driver knocks on the door. I open it, and he hands me a package. I sign and bring it in. Open it up and in the box are 5,000 more 205m primers. I opened the boxes, and I was in shock.

So I called Target Sports USA and told them what happened. The women asked if I had opened both boxes. I said yes. They asked if I wanted them at a discount price. I told them no. I couldn't afford it at the moment id rather just send em back. Women said she would get back to me about shipping, and took my info. She never did get back to me, and that was like 3 weeks ago, and the card was never charged again.

What would you do in this situation? From what I read, hazmat that has been opened can't be returned.
Maybe when I get some money I can send them a check or have them charge my card again.

Their screw up, they can pay to fix it. If they don't, it is on them. Don't lose any sleep over it.
that is what I figured. I feel bad about it, even though I shouldn't. I don't think its gonna cut into their profit margins haha.

I would complain on the internet. Because you just can't take it anymore, being taken advantage of.
But to sued your guilty conscious I will pay shipping to return them to me. And will test each and everyone of the 5,000 primers to ensure there are no duds. Only a friend would do such a thing.

That isn't true. I had a Winchester LR primer fail at the rounded edge. They (Winchester) took care of setting up the shipping and a trucking company came by and picked them up from me.

But it may be that Target Sports just will accept the mistake to your benefit.

First, I agree that since you've contacted them, it's in their court.

Still, if it were me, I would want to confirm with them what they are going to do.

Does anyone know if UPS or Fedex are certified to pack up hazmat items?

Hi, Ted here from target sports.

I'll be over to pick those up from you. What's your address again?

Experts can chime in but I believe ATF forbids the return of ammo, gunpowder and rifle primers. TargetSports USA told my buddy, who received an errant shipment of primers from them, they couldn't accept primer returns for legal purposes and shipped him original order free of charge. Looks like they have some poor QA practices in shipping. I think you won 5k primers, congrats!

Ups has to be picked up from a haz mat shipper. All the papers have to be correct through a haz mat certified shipper. I don't believe a driver can pick this up unless things are different at large hubs, but I don't think so.

Well, you did the right thing by calling them, a lot of people wouldn’t. It’s in their court. If it’s eating at you then call them again but if had to guess I bet it’s too big of a hassle for them to deal with. The second call would be to make you feel like you did everything you could If it’s bugging you. I think the first call suffices and I wait to hear from them but that’s just me.

Jelenko, you said pack not pick up. I misread. I couldn't answer that with complete knowledge as it may be different at a much larger hub of thr haz mat was brought maybe the hub offers haz mat shipping to customers? I really don't know- our hub is small and doesnt.

Ill be in NY next week.

Since they were free, I'll offer half of what they would have cost ya! And I'll pick em up!

If I’m a manager at Target Sports looking at this: a return isn’t possible because the customer isn’t registered to ship hazmat. I chalk it up as a loss, look for what went wrong in the system, and hope that because it went in favor of the customer that they are now a returning and repeat customer into the future, which will more than make up for a couple hundred dollars lost on this transaction.

Oh I'll definitely be returning! Haha. I've ordered from them in the past. They have always been good to me. I just don't understand why they have an excessive amount of primers in stock, and when other places get them in stock, they go super quick and for higher prices.
