Target height info

I’m working on a project and I can not find any data on the actual height a target is to be place. There are “standards” for sizes obviously, but I can find info for top of target to ground or center to ground etc.

Can someone help?

Specifically I’m looking for b-27 target info for FBI, IDPA, IPSC. FBI being most important.

Probably because there is no "standard", the target is placed high enough to see the entire thing at the range you shoot it from.

That is correct. I was the range master for Treasury in SFO (US Customs Service). Targets were placed at comfortable heights for the agents, not to some arbitrary standard height. The shooters placed their targets on the backers, not the RSO's or me.

Probably because real-life, can-shoot-back-at-you targets don't present themselves at any standard height? Be good to know what can happen when you have to draw down on something above or below your eye level.

How about having the center of the target at the same elevation as your rifle. Work on that for load development. Then start putting them higher or lower to check for uphill or downhill data. There are apps that will tell you the necessary sight correction for various angles and distances, but there might be some info to be gained for your particular rifle.

Pretty sure he was asking about pistol work. But maybe not.

OMG, I'm having a hard time trying to stop laughing. I think most of us fit into this category.

My Bad, I should have read the post more closely. I think the basic idea might still work.
