Target 308 hole gauge

USPSA scoring overlays have a 22 caliber, 30 caliber and popular pistol calibers on them. I am not sure where you can purchase them though.

Rather than a plug which damages the hole IBS uses a reticle.
These are approved and for sale (not by me)
If used properly the plug does not damage the hole. The reticle can be and IS fudged very easily. I have only seen the target supported properly when using plugs at a very few ranges. I have seen quite a few targets scored with the reticle that leaves only walking away laughing shaking your head.

If used properly, which it seldom is, the plug does not damage the hole. Fake news. The scoring reticle allows the user to determine the value of the shot. Sad day for the sport when the reticle was given the power.......to fudge. Most have been a Dem that pushed it through.

Having had many targets scored both ways over the years, I feel the reticle is the fairest method.

As to the user determining the score, that's why there are referees at any registered match. If the shooter has a question, the referees take an impartial look at the target and determine the score. Having been a referee at many tournaments, including both IBS and NBRSA Nationals that's my take on it, for what it's worth.

Good shootin'. :) -Al

We will need to disagree on this one. I stand by my original thought. I hope you shoot all wipeouts, then it's easy. Jeff

Well,, the plug can be used once according to the rules. Once it is removed from the target, it cannot be re-inserted Into the same hole. That is one rule that is regularly overlooked. The plug can damage the hole in the target if not properly used.
