Tangent or Secant?

One of the batches I made is not intended to be inserted in the magazine.
I'm aware that the use of a magazine, particularly in an AR, limits how long a bullet can be seated.
My intent is to find where the best seating depth is and work my way from there.

Test bullet jumps between 40-90 thou in 10 thou increments and let the rifle tell you where it wants to shoot.

Berger web page has a couple of strategies for jump testing secant VLD types and for the Hybrid tangent type. As Ned says you have to test to see what your load and gun will shoot the best because of the harmonics of that system. You will find one that is significantly smaller group than the others when you are using bullets intended for single loading.
