Talley bases - DIY type

ab_bentley

I fix stuff, sometimes....
Anyone here have specs on talley bases. I am looking for the width, width at the dove tail, and length of the base. I know people machine them all the time and so I figure I need to know how to.

Adam

I custom make a bunch of them. Best to get a set of rings and measure from there what you need. I start with 1 x 5/8 CRS Flat stock. The dovetail is a special size; it looks to be 1/2" x 60° but is actually bigger.

Good to know, I will mic the rings when they come. Any advise on making these things? Mine are going to be barrel mounted.

Adam

Fit them to the barrel first then machine them. That way you know they will be true. I mount mine to the receiver, screw them down and then finish them.
