Taking Barnard S or P action 308 bolt face to WSM

I,m thinking of getting the 308 sized bolt face on either my S or P model Barnard machined out to take WSM cases. Does anyone know for sure of they can be milled out, but still be able to switch to the 308 ejector and still use 308 cases in switch barrel? I was hoping I could just change ejectors and barrels, not complete bolts.

Maxpower,

First to say is that the bolt being made of case-hardened metal, opening it will remove the hard coat and leave unhardened metal apparent. If this trickyoperation is however going to be attempted, it will be by machine grinding, otherwise, the result wold not look very neat...

Robert, I didnt realise it would be so difficult to machine the bolt. I rang one of the importers and he gave me a price for a bolt with handle, but no firing pin etc. The price was much less than expected, same as machining would have cost, so I will go the new bolt body option.

Call Mac Tilton and just get him to sell you the correct bolt. It will save a lot of heart ache in the long run. The Barnard is a great action Just rebarreled three of them all were shooters.
