Tailure to eject.

I have an High Standard HD Military which is giving me a problem. The extractor pulls the spent cartridge from the chamber after which the cartridge "stove-pipes". I'm thinking either a weakened recoil spring or the ejector.itself.
Can anyone point me a direction that will help me diagnose the cause of this~?
I like the pistol a lot and have even thought of sending it to Texas Interarms so Alan can go thru the piece completely to get it back in tip-top condition, but between the hassle of shipping and cost of service I would be buried in the pistol.
Any tips or thoughts would be greatly appreciated~!!!!

A weakened recoil spring would actually help you. You are not getting enough powder/gas or the recoil spring is too strong. It has to have enough powder to blow the slide back far enough for the case to hit the ejector.

Try a different ammo, I see this is 22lr. Try many types until you find one that works.

The next round in the magazine may be hitting the fired shell & knocking it off the bolt face.

Place 1 round in the chamber. Fire. Does it eject? No magazine in gun.

Adjust magazine or try a different magazine?

Had a High Standard HD Military for a while.

Had the same pistol and really liked it. It was ammo-sensitive though. Mine would not function with standard velocity ammo but worked fine with most HV. WH

A syndrome that can occur with these pistols is where it seems to function perfectly -- fires and ejects with a loaded round, but when you mean to unload it by hand, you may cycle the slide with mag out, and it doesn't extract the round from the chamber. If the operator doesn't visually check the chamber, the pistol is left with a live round chambered, and probably safety off. jd

Sounds like time for a new ejector spring and you may as well do a recoil spring too. AGI has a great HD Military video on how to do this. I'll have to take a look at where you might be able to get that vid.

Looks like Youtube still has the armorers course AGI 121. I think that covers it.

Same for me as well; I learned that is the typical indication that recoil spring replacement time.

tOOK THE HD-MILITARY TO MY GUNSMITH TODAY WHO IS A PRECISION RIFLE BUILDER. HIGHLY COMPETITIVE SHOOTER, AND A hIGH STANDARD COLLECTOR. I ALSO TOOK HIM A NEW RECOIL SPRING THAT I BOUGHT FROM ALAN ARONSTEIN. SEEMS THAT THE SPRING PURCHASE WAS UNNECESSARY BECAUSE THE SMITH HAS TONS OF HIGH STANDARD PARTS. I EXPECT TO GET MY HD MILITARY BACK IN TIP-TOP SHAPE.
sMITH IS IN VERO BEACH, FLORIDA WITH A SHOP CALLED 10X. NEED A GOOD GUNSMITH, GIVE HIM A CALL~!!

NOT GOING TO GO DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE FOR CORRECT AMMO. THE PISTOL SHOULD HANDLE ANY STANDARD VELOCITY AMMO I CAN BUY.

CCI Standard and Winchester standard velocity are great places to start post tune-up. Then you can join the club with running down some SK Pistol Match. Let us know how it goes!
