tails for flags

flexible

Silver $$ Contributor
HI everyone, flexible here. Just ordered some Ezell flags but they don't come with tails.
Any idea where i can get the tails? Ralph Manhorn? John Mayo?
thanks

I think he's looking for sail tails. I gave him a few names but I'm terrible with conflating screen names to actual names so I'll post three here and hopefully they will reply and help this gentleman out. @JMayo (Johnny), Ralph Van Horn and Todd Criswell

I’ve been using grosgrain ribbon for several years and like it a lot. It doesn’t whip and snap around like surveyors tape, yet it is still light enough so I know what’s happening. It also doesn’t wrap around my flags on those really windy and switchy days like surveyors tape tends to do.

Lots of high vis colors to choose from as well.

Just interjecting something that I’ve discovered. The 3/4” wide surveyors tape attached to 6’ fiberglass driveway marker poles with a short piece of monofilament fishing line and a swivel, serves as inexpensive wind flags at our informal shoots. I reinforce the end of the tape with duct tape and punch a hole in that end and attach the swivel there. Tails cut at 34” will stand out horizontally in 10 mph wind. Cheap and easily made.

Might try DIY with some ribbon from Hobby Lobby. I find this to be about the same weight material as the NRA was using at the SB matches up a Attebury this summer. Also reformed part of a coat hanger to use with the supports for my chronograph. And in line with what you are wanting to do, added a tail to my Ken Benyo windmill.

(The chrono supports are about the only thing that can hold up to the winds here in Alabama.)
