Tactical Stocks

I’m looking to restock two varmint rifles in tactical style stocks and looking for some real world experience. I’m looking for something rigid that is suitable for prairie dog hunting from a bench and some prone shooting. I don’t need a stock that will survive being driven over by a Hummer or being dropped over a cliff. I’ve been looking at the B&C Medalist Tactical, McMillian A3, and the Manners T2 and have been wondering, if there is enough difference between the B&C and the higher end stocks to justify the price difference? What do I get extra for roughly double the price?

I have a B&C medalist non adj that I like my brother has had manners and McMillan I like the grip a little better and the inlet is nicer but at 3 times the money I didn't see that much better of a stock to me my stock was more solid than his but this is my own oberservation. I had a smith tell me the B&C were brittle and if you put them in a vice a twist they will break but he also sells manners and mcmillan so I doubt he would bad mouth them I know the McMillan and manners are excellent stocks but I'm not sure if they are worth that much more money. you will have to make that decision on you own

I have a bell and carlson tactical. Its a solid stock. My 6br shoots excellent in it. I have an h.s. and have shot a bunch of others. For the money a b and c is very practical and economical.

New Tactical Stock by Kevin Nietzel in Pennsylvania. The harmonics of this stock are as perfect as I've ever seen. The CNC machining is simply amazing. The butt has six way adjustment to fit any size shooter. You can contact Kevin at 1-717-677-8933.

I turned down a Choate on this site because it looked flimsy or cheap.I found out from another member that he used one to get his F-TR High master with one. They have gone up about $75 but they are still a bargain.

Tac21?

How do you clean a rifle in one of those tac21 chassis? Do you have to take it out to clean it? Does the stock pop off easy?

Made in canada for a remington 700. Any stock for the ar will bolt right on, take 30 seconds to pull it off for cleaning.

Nice stock! The last pic blew up nicely, too, for a better view.

The Choate Tactical is a very sturdy stock and am happy with mine. The only thing I don't like is the lack of space between the vertical grip and triggerguard. Having sausage fingers, the tight quarters are slightly annoying. Average Joe Shooter should fit perfectly, though.

Never held a high $$$ stock like Manners or McM; the one B&C vertical grip stock I held was really uncomfortable - not sure of the model.

I can guarantee you will not find a better, tougher stock for the money than the Choate Tactical.

Good luck!

I don't know what it is about the B&C stocks, but they just feel "cheap" compared to Manners, McMillan and AG Composites stocks I've handled in the past or currently own. I've had the B&C Medalist A2 tactical and a couple others. Got rid of them all.

Couple years ago I purchased an AG Composites CAT700 carbon fiber sporter stock from Stocky's Stocks. The AG's are excellent quality and have customer service second to none with a full lifetime warranty. I rubbed the finish off in a couple spots on my AG while hiking hard in the high contry over the last 2 years. Just normal wear and tear from hunting hard with the rifle rubbing against my side, nothing major. Called up AG and asked what it would cost to re-finish the stock. Told me to send it to them and they would re-paint it completely free of charge. Can't beat that! :)

AG is now making a tactical style carbon fiber stock for Stocky's called the "VG2". It's a lot of stock for the money. Nearly identical design to the Manners T2. The VG2 is 100% carbon fiber, is usually readily available in different colors, and costs a lot less than the comparable 100% carbon fiber Manners Elite model T2.
NOTE: AG Composites ONLY make stocks in 100% carbon fiber. Any of the other laminate wood or composite VG2 models from Stocky's are NOT made by AG Composites.

I also have a Manners T4 Adjustable cheekpiece stock that just arrived at the house. So I'll be reviewing that model Manners stock for the first time when I get home from work on Friday. Very nice features, but definitely more expensive. I'll see how it stacks up to my AG carbon fiber stock and let you know.
