Tac.20 vs. 20ppc????

Phil

I already own a Tac.20.

What,if any, advantages does a 20ppc have over the Tac?????

I believe the accuracy node is close between the two when using 39/40gr. pills.

Looking for some knowledge on the subject.

Phil.

I've got both - a .20 PPC on a newer Nesika RBLP action, and a TAC 20 on an older Nesika RBRP. The PPC was put together by Kevin Weaver and it shoots great. The TAC 20 was chambered by Richard Franklin, and it also shoots great. Both are Pac Nor 11 twist barrels.

Both shoot 39's, Sierra's ) to 3900 fps or so. I use Lapua brass for the PPC and Dakota, Lapua made ) brass for the TAC 20. But any .223 brass is easily formed for the TAC 20. Pressure seems a little milder for the PPC. Accuracy for both is about the same. Speed is about the same. My buddies all laugh that either cartridge is a more expensive way to get .204 Ruger performance. I do believe you could push the PPC to faster velocities and stay within 63,000 PSI pressure limits. The TAC probably not so much.

Hope this helps.

But, I like them both. You'd probably have better future options with a .223 based bolt face, the Franklin Nesika has a .223 AI barrel chambered for it also ).

I love my 20 Practical. It is a 1-10' twist Shilen on a savage action and it shoots 39gr Blitzkings at 3950fps into very tight groups.

Another vote for the 20 Practical, which is simply a 20-223 Rem. You take regular .223 Rem brass and neck down to .204 caliber.

The .20 Practical ARs that Robert Whitley has put together have been shooters, every one. Most people have a stash of fired .223 brass so this can be a much less expensive option than doing a 20 PPC from scratch.

My 20 Practical that Robert Whitley made is a pile. I mean who would want an upper that has impeccable workmanship, does everything it is supposed, fires a 39 grain BK at 3900 fps into .25 groups and doesn't jam. He does outstanding work!!
