T36 Power conversion

Reticle broke on my T36. Spoke to repair company and a power increase conversion of
36x to 55x was suggested. Any input would be appreciated as to darkness and clarity etc. at this higher power thanks ed

I would think at 55x it would be real dark. You have a one inch tube and a 40 mm lens. My first "high power" scope was a t-36 and I thought it was pretty darn dark as is. (the older ones are said to have better glass than the one I had) So how much are they going to charge you do do the conversion? I'm not sure Weaver is still in business, and I would not spend too much on it.

I have a T36 on a 22 for shooting out to 100yd. Beyond that the mirage is often a killer, I can't imagine the difficulty with a fixed 55 power. Maybe the places you shoot are different, but none I shoot could handle that.
