T3 Bottom Metal Source?

Fella's;

I'm having a 6.5 X 55 Swede built on a Tikka T3. If possible, I'd like to find a source for replacement bottom metal for the T3. Anybody know of one?

For the curious; It's damn near impossible to find a left hand bolt 6.5 Swede new or used. Yes, I know the Mauser G3 and Blaser's are available, and I checked the prices too. Go hold yer breath & wait till you find a Sako 75 LHB in 6.5 - it was nice knowin' ya. Soooo, when I got a deal on an LHB NIB Tikka for $279.00, that became the donor action for the Swede project. One does not pass up deals like that & remain outside the confines of the funny farm for long. My stock maker would like to work with a metal trigger guard & I'm trying to find him one. OTOH, he will do it with the stock Tikka unit, but gripe about it to me.

I thought about having one made or just taking my time and cut and file one. Frankly Master Class stocks had no problem stocking my Tikka, If he has no option I'm pretty sure he'll do it.

I think roedale precision makes one. It would use aics mags, just not sure if they have one for the long action yet.

Joe;

Thanks for the prompt that kicked me poor feeble mind up & made it sorta work again. Yes, the 6.5 Swede is being built on a standard length action. And that's by my preference also.

Building one on a short action is like putting a Vega engine in Camaro. Why force the bullet back into the case & deprive yourself of horsepower room? Any supposed increases in accuracy are moot in a game gun. But terminal energy directly relates to the bullet's velocity when it gets there.

I have seen Robertson Composites' new stock for the T3 and is is incredible. The stock-integrated recoil lug is a pain, but they have adapted and the result is a very good looking stock!

Sorry I can't help with the bottom metal issue, but I'm watching for what turns up too.

Looked up Roedale Precision and they do, in fact, use Badger Ordinance bottom metal in their custom stock. Some machining on Tikka action to feed properly though.
