T/C n Vertical

I see some questions on T/C s

I have a real nice new 223AI T/C rifle barrel, I have done everything to eliminate the 1 inch moa of vertical that I get. The only thing left of the table is the hinge pin. Should I hand ream and go oversize on the hinge pin? Anyone else have this problem?

thanks Link

What kind of rest and bag setup do you have. The tc's are light in the front end and tend to jump pretty good when fired. I practically death grip mine to eliminate muzzle rise. Also your load could be the culprate if it is a mild load rather than a barrel melt down load.Is your trigger stock or has it been set lower as the heavy trigger can play a part in this problem.

Me and a buddy worked for a year trying different ideas, the best improvement to my encore was to pillar bed the front handgaurd.
Then we put a brake on the barrel, except for the 6lbs trigger,it was a great 1k shooter, I did find once on a bugara barrel the chamber was cut off center by almost .oo3,that can be checked easily by marking the case and shooting several with the mark fired in the same loaded position, then check fired cases with a consintricty gauge, and ive also had a .223 barrel that would conseculivly hit thumb tacks at a hundred yards, then after mistakenly soaking sweets 762 in barrel overnight it never shot good again

I have a TC and notice if firing pin plug is putting any pressure on the loaded round it will always show vertical, have two custom barrels one Bullberry and one MGM. When sizing your brass set your dies to where you have about .002 clearance between brass and firing pin plug. I also use a Mike Belm oversize hinge pin .0005 over size you have to tap it in with a mallet or plastic hammer so you don't mare it up but makes it lock up nice and tight no slop when broke open either. I have found that bullet seating depth is something you have to be careful not to jam as this will hold round back against firing pin plug a get vertical i always jump, also i get more pressure if bullet is touching and you will notice the gun is hard to break open , should open easy hope this helps.

Headspace is critical. Spend the time to get the sizing die set to just touch the shoulder of the shell back just a .001 of so.

One MOA for the TC's isn't crappy shooting. Some custom barrels shoot better than that, but the details matter. Lighten the trigger, free float or bed the forearm, critical care with headspace, and even they won't shoot as tight as a bolt gun with a similar level of attention to the details.

I'm lov'n my Encore. It satisfies my wildcat'n urges, it shoots well enough to reach out there really well, and is quirky looking enough that usually means I'm the only one on the line shooting one. Its fun for the one who likes to tinker with reloading. Almost all my shooting is in pistol configuration with 16-20 inch barrels, mostly in wildcat chamberings.

They can be pretty too. Ok, ok,.... In the eye of the beholder :)

Listen to this fellow as he knows what he is talking about! Chose bullets with an ogive that do not require jamming or for that matter even in to the lands. Bellm's headspace gage is a real time saver. I love my T/C's and all but those chambered in handgun calibers are sub MOA with my .17 Ackley Hornet capable of 1/3 MOA to 200 yards!

Thanks a bunch guys.

I have done all above but the oversize pin. i guess that will be next.

I have talked to Mike Belm and jr several times. Great people and we learned a lot about head space etc. Had them do the trigger assy , sweet.

the pin it is.

thanks again.
